Introduction Stress is not a very pleasant experience but unfortunately life throws situations full of incongruence at us that challenge our ability to remain calm. The reasons are endless from the noisy neighbor to the pizza boy whom keeps delivering a pepperoni pizza when I asked for a Hawaiian pizza with extra cheese and…..well, you get my drift. Imagine your mind/brain like a rubber band. Each time it is exposed to stress it stretches a bit… If your brain is continuously bombarded with stress, this “rubber band” will keep on stretching and stretching till it pops (!!!). Fact is that when you allow yourself to live in a constant stressful state, you WILL experience physical changes – changes that will not be pleasant: higher blood pressure, ulcer, heart ailments, all the way to severe depression. Research shows that most doctor’s visits are a direct result of stress, resulting in us Americans spending 10s of millions of dollars in medical care… money that could have been saved with a little self-care. The solution centers on giving your brain a break with different activities that allow your “rubber band” to relax.. Natural Remedies 1.Don’t focus on the problem, focus on the solution. Replace a negative thought with something positive like a funny moment recently or something personally enlightening e.g. birth of a baby. 2.If at work, change your seating position or go for a stroll around the office if stress is hitting you. 3.Try some yoga exercises. Practice them slowly in a meditative mode. You can find many yoga exercises on www.youTube.com . I highly recommend you learn the Sun Salute and practice it daily 3 to 10 times. Make sure not to overdo it – always stretch only as far as you can without experiencing pain or discomfort. With practice you’ll become more and more flexible, and most importantly you’ll attain serenity through regular practice. 4.Go for a walk in the park or go for a swim, activities like these help relieve stress. 5.Get a head massage or do it yourself. Gentle rubbing of the scalp is a very effective way to put you at ease. 6. Regular meditation is one of the most effective ways to keep your stress under control. Put on your favorite instrumental, soft music and sit in a meditative position, such as lotus, cross-legged, or simply lay on your back on a hard surface (on the carpet, on your

yoga mat or a towel), or on your couch, recliner, etc. if you are really spoiled. Focus your thoughts 100% on the music… if any thoughts come up – and trust me, they will – visualize them as bubbles floating away… then CONSCIOUSLY redirect your focus to the music. (I recommend Deve Premal or Krisna Dass songs – while they do have lyrics, they are in Hindi, hence most of us do not understand the words…, but their songs are extremely meditative and relaxing – watch them on uTube for added visual stimulation that will take your mind off all the stress you might have going on). 7. Meditative breathing exercise. A great way to meditate is to close your eyes and focus on one thing such as your controlled breathing. Breath in slowly to a count of 8; hold your breath for a count of 2 to 4 (seconds); breath out slowly, counting to 8 again; hold your breath for 2 to 4 counts. Repeat 5 to 10 times. 8. “Ohm meditation.” One of the most effective meditative methods I found was the following: Breath in slowly (6 to 8 counts); hold it for a second or two; then release your breath extremely slowly while you release an “Ohhhmmm” sound, allowing the “mmmm” to resonate in your throat (and you’ll literally feel a gentle vibrating massage in your brain area). The exhalation can last as long as 30 seconds or more. Repeat 6 to 10 times… or as many times as needed. I do realize that for some this will seem like “woodo” or some other crazy thing that you’d not want to “stoop” to; but trust me, once you try this exercise, you’ll stick with it for life. I for example, find myself doing “Ohm’s” in the shower, before sleep in my bed, while driving, at my desk during work (taking a minute off to clear my head) and in many other situations. Try it – you’ll be glad you did. 9.Play a game (if allowed while at work) or do a crossword. Activities like these allow you to easily find at least 10 ways to relieve stress so shift your focus away from whatever is stressing you. It’s a known fact that computer game lovers enjoy obliterating aliens or whatever as a means to alleviate stress. Play some Frisbee, ping-pong, or other fun game with a coworker or some miniature golf, if you can bring one into your office. Careful with computer games, do not get addicted to computer games, as this can get you in trouble and more stress than you bargained for. In my opinion, computer games should be left for home entertainment, and there too you should put a time limit on it. Do not allow it to take over your life. Whenever possible opt for a walk in the park or other natural remedies. 10.Play some of your favorite music and dance to it. Of course, if you are surrounded by dozens of coworkers, this might not be feasible at work, but you can definitely use it at home as a very effective stress reliever. At work, perhaps your employer will allow you to use headphones. Sounds that invoke feelings of serenity such as sea waves or forest sounds can act as an excellent stress reliever. 11. Perhaps, you have heard the song ‘the drugs don’t work’ from The Verve and it’s all true. Being lethargic or stressed should not mean reaching for the pharmaceutical

cupboard. Stimulants cannot remove the problem or help to forget it. Grab a huge drink of water instead and enjoy the feeling of refreshment. 12.Try Humor! As part of this list explaining 10 ways to relieve stress, this is probably the most effective method. Laughing brings you into the brighter side of your daily life. Read some jokes, or tell them to colleagues. 13.Try to sleep for at least 7 or 8 hours every night. More early nights and a proper sleep pattern will allow you to feel more relaxed each day and less prone to procrastination and lethargic behavior. 14. Get a puppy or a kitten! Yes, this might sound like a radical move and it should not be taken lightly. When you adopt a pet, you are in fact making a commitment to live with a new “family member” – one that needs lots of attention. As someone wise once said, “It is impossible to hit the snooze button on a hungry cat at 4 in the morning.” But if you think you are ready, owning a pet is one of the greatest stress relievers out there, as well as a great depression buster. Add to that the fact that research shows that people who own pets (dogs, cats, horses, or other larger pets) live longer than those who do not have pets or those who have less “active” pets, such as fish or turtles… Follow the above easy tips to relieve stress and start leading a healthy life and improve your ways of tackling daily stress to feel better each day.

Easy Home Diet Remedies  Getting in shape is important to everyone but for those who aren't able to spend a lot of money on diet programs, good home diet remedies may be just what you need. Many diseases and health problems can be avoided by simply losing weight. Research also clearly shows that people under stress tend to overeat; hence taking control of your stress level is as important as taking control of your diet… The only problem is losing weight isn't always all that simple. In fact it can be hard to do. With money being tight and not knowing what chemicals are truly safe that are used in many diet products, it is essential to try and find ways to lose weight that are more natural. Home diet remedies don't have to be difficult to follow and can be rather enjoyable and/or easy to follow. 15. The first of the home diet remedies is to eat more often. Just make sure that your portions are smaller. It has been proven that your metabolism speeds up if your body takes fuel in more often. If your body decides that it is going to be a long time before it refuels, it will get ready for it by storing it and not allowing it to be burned. If you are in the habit of eating more often, your body will have less incentive to store it. It is suggested that you eat five to six times a day. Just make sure that you are eating less

during those times than you normally would. In fact, count on only having one big meal during the day and let the rest of the meals be glorified snacks. One can be a protein shake of some kind and another can be a health food bar of some kind. Another can be a small salad that is just fruit or vegetables with very little in the way of dressing. 16. The second of the home diet remedies is to drink more fluids. You have to drink more water more often. Not only will it help flush out toxins and help keep your body hydrated, it will also keep your body from trying to pretend it's a camel and store water. Your body has a tendency to horde what it needs when it doesn't think it's going to get enough. The more often you drink water, the less it is going to hold on to. It has also been found that by simply increasing your fluid intake – primarily water – you increase your energy level by up to 30% - let’s face it, who can’t appreciate that. With more energy, it is easier to face any stress you might encounter. 17. A third of the home diet remedies is try to burn more calories than you take in. Be aware of what you are eating and make use of the Internet to find out how many calories you're eating. Pay close attention to the amount of calories in the food you eat per serving and keep an eye on the actual amount of servings you are eating at one time. Find activities to do on a daily basis that burns significant calories. Let it be more than your are currently doing. Find something that pushes your limits but not too far. Find something that is fun for you to do. Start off slow and gradually build. Find a partner that will help you reach your goals if you need. This is not something that is very complicated. It can be done right now. All it takes is for you to decide that you are going to use these home diet remedies and then follow through.

4 Depression Home Remedies ­ Kicking The Blues  When our brains are constantly bombarded by stress; that is, the “rubber band” just keeps on being stretched and stretched…, it is only a matter of time that we get to the next stage of stress-induced state: depression. Hopefully, if you are at this stage, you only experiencing the “blues,” and not a major depression… Depression home remedies may just be what you need if you want to shake the blues.. The American bluesman, John Lee Hooker, spoke the truth when he said about the blues,

“It's about being human, see? Everybody gets the blues.

Even a rich man gets the blues sometime.”

No one is immune from it but everyone can beat it. Using some of these depression home remedies may help you get out of your depression before you need outside help and before it takes too much of a toll on you and your family. 18. Enjoy The Ride: One of the depression home remedies that you may want to try is sitting back and enjoying the ride. This doesn’t mean that being depressed is a good thing and something to enjoy, but it is a natural part of life. Life is many times like a roller coaster. Every once in a while you have dips in the ride. Take it for what it is, just a little low spot, and don’t make it into a bigger deal than it really is. 19. Get Active: Many times what makes a depressed situation worse is sitting around and pondering it. The more you dwell on it, the worse it may become. To get your mind off of it try doing something active to preoccupy you. Do something that takes you out of your house, out of your situation. Go for a run or a walk. Go hit the gym or play some basketball. Go see a friend and play some checkers or cards. Go to the library and read a book that has nothing to do with what is going on now. It may seem ironic that one of the depression home remedies would be to get you out of the home but it will be effective none-the-less. 21. “It’s Alright To Cry”: No one says that you have to let anyone see you do it but crying can be very therapeutic and cleansing. It can help you come to grips with what ever it is that has you depressed and is a good way to release what is building up inside. It doesn’t matter how big you are or how tough you are, crying will help you and is one of the better depression home remedies. 22. Do Something Boring: This may seem like an odd thing to tell someone to do, especially when one of the other depression home remedies was to get active. It can, however, be another great way to distract you. Find a spider web and study the patterns, following the lines. Count the tiles on your wall. Follow the grains of wood on the floor and look for patterns. Even get out some crayons or coloring pencils and draw or create patterns. This will help to settle your mind and may help you relax. 23. Do Something Exciting – Something Crazy Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn to ski – go take that ski trip… Or go rock climbing… water skiing… water rafting… join a karate club…

Do something crazy – something that will shift your mindset. Use these methods soon after you first start feeling the blues or a bit depressed. If you have these feelings for more than two weeks, then you may need professional help. Before it gets to that point, though, try these depression home remedies and kick the blues out the door.

More Simplest Remedies To Relieve Stress  There are numerous methods involved in the reduction of stress. For this article, I shall look at the simpler ones. Yoga, Tai Chi and sport may not be something you are accustomed to doing each day. Other than exercise and hitting the pharmaceutical cupboard, there are even simpler remedies to relieve stress. Here is a checklist of items to action each day. 23. Early to bed, early to rise. The expression fits well into a balanced day though its more about the controlled sleeping patterns. It’s not a good thing to have only a few hours of sleep each night. Have a good night’s sleep; 7 hours each night fits well into a stress relieving pattern. 24.Don’t drink vast amounts of caffeine as this disrupts your daily balance. If you are prone to drinking too much caffeine, try cutting down and fit some decaffeinated coffee and tea into your day. Yes, caffeine gives you a burst of energy to enable you to feel more alert but the effect is short. 25.Eat lots of fruits, get the needed daily vitamins. Apples and bananas are very healthy supplements as part of your daily food intake. Bananas are not fattening and apples help the immune system. Don’t eat too much processed food; concentrate on drinking and eating the required vitamins. 26.Salt raises your blood pressure, so keep an eye on salty foods being consumed. Higher blood pressure will contribute to your stress levels and is a killer. 27.Look back over the past week at the positive aspects that made you feel good. Did something occur that attracted an experience of joy and laughter? Send some time focusing on that moment as it will allow you to attract good feelings into your mind and smother any negative impact from the day. 28.If you must reach for pharmaceuticals, try some antioxidants. Speak to your local pharmacist initially about remedies to relieve stress. There are various remedies that protect you from heart disease and lower your blood pressure.

Don’t let stress control you; it can only do that if you allow that to happen.

29.Afternoon naps can help. If you work from home, or are on the road a lot, find times in the day to relax this way. This is particularly effective if you tend to work irregular hours. This will make you feel more rested and generally more willing to face the day ahead. 30. Don’t get stressed about being stressed? That’s probably one of the most important tips, and there are easy ways to relieve stress so that you bring peace of mind to yourself. Whatever it is that is stressing you must be confronted and controlled. The idea is to separate you from whatever it is that is causing stress and place your mind and body into a place of serenity. 31.Relax in a chair, close your eyes and empty your mind of all thoughts except for one. This could be your latest car, new girlfriend, whatever it is that has brightened up your day recently. Focus on that ray of sunshine that gives you a smile. Do this for around 10 minutes each day. 32.Listen to melodic atmospheric music such as a calm sea with beach sounds, this type of music can be found on Amazon and many web sites. Again, close your eyes and visualize yourself in that scene being painted by the music. 33.Aside from visualization as above, basic controlled breathing can be the most effective method when facilitating easy ways to relieve stress. Inhale for a count to 5, and exhale on a count to 3. This can be more effective if you combine this breathing exercise with point 31. 34.Engage in a conversation with a friend or family member. Talking to people can help relieve stress as you can talk about the stressful events in your life and share your experiences. You can be sure that you are not alone. 35.Go for a walk in the park or on a beach. Find a part of the countryside away from the urban jungle if you live in the city. Find a place of tranquility where you can breathe pure air and dispense your worries. 36.Massage therapy has been proven to improve the immune system so this should be considered if you are suffering from serious amounts of daily stress. Stress can break down the immune system slowly but surely. 37.Yoga is very effective here. It’s a known historical fact that Yoga can control stress related illnesses, pain and depression. 38.If you are experiencing heartburn stress and basic relaxation is not helping enough, visit your pharmacist and ask for a remedy. These come in various strengths so be clear to your pharmacist about the severity of the heartburn.

Bad states of mind like worrying will just wear you down. Depression is an illness not a state of mind; it’s where you have got as a result of too much worry, fear, irritability, and anxiety. Attack the stress head on using these easy ways to relieve stress and your daily life feel much more in your control. 39.Deep controlled breathing can help. Sit comfortable and inhale through the nose concentrating on contracting your stomach muscles. 40.Another form of relaxation is Progressive Relaxation. This combines breathing exercises with the slow contraction of body muscles. Work through each body muscle group from the toes to your chest, flexing each one and releasing the tension as you exhale. 41.Meditation will unite the body and mind so this is an important step. Occupy your mind with a pleasing memory or image; close your eyes and focus on that thought. Become wrapped in it and feel the joy of that moment. Ensure that you are not disturbed so this will be needed to be conducted at home. 42.Exercise benefits the mind as well as the body. Perform some cardiovascular exercise each week, twice a week for 50 minutes as this is one of the strongest natural ways to relieve stress. Your local fitness centre will be able to advise you on the best routine. 43.Where exercise is concerned, it can be augmented with some simple applications each day. Try walking up the stairs at home two steps at a time. Try out some further ways to push the body somewhat each day like taking the stairwell and not the escalator. 44.Yoga is great for settling the mind, placing you at ease and promoting mental and spiritual enlightenment. The postures taught at a Yoga class help to bring balance to your system. 45.Another fitness option is Aerobics as this will nurture your physical fitness in the same way as yoga. It depends on your interests; aerobics can be a more vigorous training exercise. 46.Tai Chi involves a series of gentle movements that enable you to feel more relaxed and maintain a higher level of concentration. This again calms the mind, and therefore reduces stress. 47. Herbal Remedies Take time to “smell the basil” . Acording to recent Japanese research, basil contains a floral-scented compound called linalool which lowers the stress-inducing cells generated in the bloodstream as a result of exposure to stressful situations. When stressed, pick up a piece of fresh basil and take a few whiffs.

Grapes, lavender, oranges, lemons, and mangoes have similar effects as basil. Whenever you feel stressed, look around the kitchen and take advantage of these natural stress-relievers. It’s important to slow the stress duration by taking your mind away from the area of stress. These natural ways to relieve stress relax the mind and body. There is no real pattern as to when you should carry out the exercises though I would say at least once a week. In turn, this promotes peace within yourself and a generally more productive YOU. 48. Apple Cider Vinegar - Healing Home Remedies Many of the healing home remedies that have been used by people for generations and even going back thousands of years has involved vinegar. The father of modern medicine, Hippocrates (from whom the Hippocratic Oath came) used to prescribe it for persistent coughs. He was also understood to have used it and prescribed it mixed with honey for energy and general well being. Ever since then it has been used to treat many ailments and considered and seen as part of many healing home remedies. Apple cider vinegar has been used to treat such things as acne, asthma, helping control blood pressure, reducing cholesterol. There are many other uses that could be found as well. Many of them revolve around making an apple cider vinegar tonic which is adding 2 or 3 teaspoons to 8 ounces of water but there are also many other ways that it is used as well. One of the healing home remedies for helping reduce acne blemishes is apple cider vinegar. Taking a solution of vinegar to water, much like what is used in the tonic, apply to your face a couple times a day using a cotton ball. This will not only help cut down infection, but it will help dry out inflammation. One of the ways that apple cider vinegar is considered one of the better healing home remedies is in helping to treat asthma. There are people who have, with success, drank the tonic and applied a compress soaked with vinegar to the inside wrists. To help control blood pressure apple cider vinegar is being used as one of the good healing home remedies. A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a tablespoon of honey in a glass of water a couple times a day will help lower blood pressure. Both apple cider vinegar and honey have high potassium levels which helps balance sodium levels in the body. The vinegar also has magnesium which helps relax blood vessel walls which also helps lower the pressure. Another way that it is used is reducing cholesterol. It has a water soluble pectin in it that helps absorb cholesterol and fat and helps eliminate it from the body. The amino acids in it helps cut down and neutralize LDL cholesterol. Cutting down on the bad fats, increasing the amount of fiber you take in and using the vinegar tonic will help significantly drop your cholesterol levels.

In no way should any of this be used instead of what your doctor may prescribe for your ailments but there is little doubt that these healing home remedies using apple cider vinegar will help other treatments you have give you better overall health. 49. Benefits and Effectiveness Of Shea Butter Shea butter, also known as karate butter, is a fatty substance made out of nuts from the karate nut tree grown in West and Central Africa. They grow in the wild and take fifty years to mature with a life expectancy of 300 years. The benefits of the butter from the nuts are just now being realized for health and beauty. Karate butter helps diminish wrinkles by moisturizing the skin and promotes cell renewal and increases circulation in the skin. It contains cinnamic acid which is a substance helping to protect the skin from harmful UV rays. It heals burns, sores, scars, dermatitis, dandruff, stretch marks, and psoriasis. It protects the skin from environmental and free radical damages. It has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties and contains Vitamins E, F, and A. The Vitamin F in Shea butter helps to protect the skin from harmful exposure to the elements. It has linoleic, linolenic and arachidonic acids, the three essential fatty acids.
