Just a glance tells you that the 7FB is distinctly different

than any other electric forklift you have ever seen. And

that difference is more than just appearance.

The 7FB is the first Toyota electric forklift to harness

the benefits of AC Power and the System of Active

Stability (SAS). This trend-setting 7FB is a major leap in

the evolution of the electric forklift design and another

shining example of Toyota’s continuing quest for

excellence.

AC power also makes a big difference in enhancing

operator comfort. AC motors are more compact

than DC motors, and this difference in size gives

engineers more design freedom. By using this

freedom and relocating the battery under the

floorboard, Toyota has opened the 7FB to a wide

range of comfort-enhancing features for reducing

operator fatigue.

Battery LayoutPowerful yet compact AC motors allow the battery to finally leaveits conventional location under the operator’s seat.

Page 5: 10 Toyota 7FB

Low-Height StepEasy entry and exit thanksto the strategically locatedbattery. This will be muchappreciated by operatorswho have to get on and offof the forklift frequently.

Designed to provide plentyof space to enhance theoperator’s freedom of move-ment and reduce fatigue.Covers at the bottom of theinstrument panel and overthe tilt cylinders add to thestyling.

ORS SeatOperator Restraint System (ORS) seatcontributes to comfort and security.Side wings and a retractable seat belthelp keep the operator in place. The ORS seat can be adjustedlongitudinally 120 mm. Its du-rable seamless covering re-sists tears and repels water.

Easy to reach and operatecontrols mean maximumefficiency from minimaleffort. In addition, the operator’scompartment is designedto provide plenty of headclearance and other space.

Tilt Steering with Memory DeviceTailors the forklift to the operator. Adjusts to anyposition within a 13 degree range. The steeringwheel tilts out of the way to accommodate batterychanges, but can be automatically returned to itsoriginal position.

Easy-Down SystemLess noise and impact are provided by this sys-tem that gradually slows the empty forks just be-fore they contact the ground. The operator andthose working near the forklift will appreciate thereduced noise.(Standard equipment on V and SV masts.)

Direction LeverFinger-tip operation can be performed while the handis still on the steering wheel. Its electronic designprovides easy operation along with fast and accuratedirection selection. (Note: Picture shows optional right-hand direction lever.)

Toyota puts full control at your command. The steering wheel will

tilt to meet the natural driving position of the operator. Control

levers and switches are positioned within the normal range of

motion and require minimal effort. All levers and switches are

positioned for easy operation. The 7FB seems to be controlled by

the mere wishes of the operator. Features such as SAS-Automatic

Fork Leveling Control and the EHPS & SAS-Active Steering

Synchronizer help enhance operability even more.

Page 7: 10 Toyota 7FB

Level fork position provides easier fork insertion andextraction, helping to boost overall productivity. Simplypress a button on the tilt lever when moving the mastfrom the rear-tilt position and the forks will automaticallystop at the level position.

EHPS&SAS-Active Steering SynchronizerSuperior maneuverability is provided by the linkage-freeElectronically-controlled Full Hy-draulic Power Steering (EHPS).This design allows the rear tires tobe turned to 100% of their full turnangle while the forklift is stopped. The SAS-Active Steering Synchro-nizer maintains a constant rela-tionship between the steeringwheel position and the turn angleof the rear steer tires.

Page 8: 10 Toyota 7FB

The AC power system sets the stage for levels of

control unavailable until now. Changing travel

direction is now smooth and fast. Both acceleration

and deceleration are easy to control. Standard

features such as Power Select Function and Power

Keep Function help customize the 7FB to the task

and make it even more efficient. All of these

advancements are focused on redefining the

meaning of forklift productivity.

AC Power SystemMultiple benefits of the AC Power System include: fast responseto operating commands, precise power control, compact compo-nents. Moreover, since the AC motor does not use contactors andbrushes, these maintenance items will no longer be required. Italso allows for a revolutionary new forklift design and performanceso enhanced the operator can actually feel the difference.

SwitchIndicator

Power Select FunctionCustomizes forklift performanceto workplace needs. Both traveland load handling performancecan be fine-tuned to match theconditions in the workplace andthe skill of the operator.

Power Keep FunctionBoosts performance when the batterycharge is low. This control extendsthe efficient performance time of theforklift. Now the forklift can continueto work at top efficiency even whenthe battery charge is getting low.

Three Types of Regenerative SystemsWhen accelerator is releasedRegenerative braking operates when the acceleratorpedal is released during travel to collect the electricalpower created. It also acts much like "engine braking"to slow the speed of the forklift.

During switch backRegenerative braking operates during travel wheneverthe direction lever is switched from forward to reverse(or vice versa).During brakingRegenerative braking operates whenever the brakepedal is depressed during travel.

The regenerative system also helps to reduce brakelining wear and helps extend operating time per charge.

Battery Discharge Level and Performance Level

Digital Multifunction DisplayAt-a-glance monitoring of the status of key operationalinformation can easily be performed with the DigitalMultifunction Display. It is also used for making settings, such as for the power control functions, and includes adiagnostic function for the electrical and other systems.

Calculated using a 10% reduction in performance

Note:Does not function in H-mode.

The 7FB is loaded with features that show Toyota

is always caring about the safety of the operator.

Features provided by the System of Active Stability

(SAS), such as the Active Control Rear Stabilizer

and Active Mast Function Controller, are all aimed

at reducing the consequences of operator error.

The Toyota 7FB Series. Leading-edge computer-

controlled safety that satisfies even the most

experienced operators.

SAS- Active Control Rear StabilizerControls lateral stability when turning. This system incorporatesa swing lock cylinder and a controller to prevent the rear axlefrom moving up and down during sharp turns.

2-Speed Travel Speed ControlPerfect for locations with different speed zones. Theslower speed can be set to any speed between 5 and12 km/h and this speed cannot be exceeded, even if theaccelerator is fully depressed. The operator simplypresses a button to restore the full maximum travel speedof the forklift.

Deadman Switch(OPT)

This switch shuts off the travel circuit when the operatoris not on the seat, even when the key switch is in the“on” position. As long as the operator is not on the seat, the forklift will not move —even if the direction lever oraccelerator is operated. In addition, if the operator is offof the forklift but has left the key switch in the “on” posi-tion, the Auto-Off System will shut off the power after15 minutes to prevent wasting the charge in the battery.

SAS-Active Mast Function ControllerControls stability at high mast heights is performedautomatically. The SAS-Active Mast Front Tilt AngleControl limits forward tilt whenever a load is lifted pasta preset mast height. The SAS-Active Mast Tilt SpeedControl automatically reduces both forward and back-ward mast tilt speed whenever a load is lifted over2,000 mm.

High-Mounted Rear Combination Lights(OPT)

Easy-to-see and less likely to be damaged are just twoof the benefits of these lights mounted high on the backof the overhead guard.
