[email protected] Parent Resource: What's the Best Way to Discipline my Child We are spending lots of time together as a family these days. Hopefully things are going smoothly. When they are not, here are some ideas from the American Academy of Pediatrics that you may find helpful. Note: There is a button at the top of the page that translates the article to Spanish.
Take a Minute Monday Mindfulness is paying attention to your feelings and noticing with care what is going on around you. One way to do that is to focus on your 5 senses. For today’s activity, go outside with your child. Find a nice green place, one with lots of trees or plants. If you are far enough away from other people, take some big slow breaths. What can you smell? Can you smell the fresh air? Can you smell spring?
For today’s activity, let’s play “I Spy”. If you don’t know or remember how to play, here are the directions: Mindful I Spy To mix things up a little, go outside to play. Or, you could try to play using a new color every time. When we are mindful, we pay attention with care and kindness to the things around us.
Rock or Block Stacking This is a challenge to help us notice how things feel. If you have blocks, legos, stuffed animals inside, or some rocks outside. Try to make a stack. How do the objects feel? Are they warm or cold? Soft or hard? Rough or smooth? How tall can you make the stack?
Cloud Watching If the weather is nice, take some time today to go outside with your child and look up at the clouds. Try to find an old blanket and lay down in the warm grass. Watch the clouds float by. Use your imagination. What do you see? Take a few deep breaths. How does it smell outside? Think about how you feel today. Do you feel calm after taking some time outside to relax and watch the clouds?
Friday Fun Day! There are several groups on Facebook dedicated to bringing some happiness to people during these challenging times.
vamos a jugar “Yo espío”.
Respiren profundamente unas veces. ¿A qué huele afuera?
