Encapsulated tobacco beads and processes of making the encapsulated tobacco beads are disclosed. According to an embodiment, a process of making encapsulated tobacco beads comprises mixing tobacco particles and menthol in an aqueous solution to form a wet mass; extruding the wet mass to form extrudates; spheronizing the extrudates to form tobacco beads; drying the tobacco beads; contacting the beads with a solution comprising a cation; and introducing the contacted tobacco beads into a solution of coating material in a concentration effective to induce ionic gelation of the coating material around the beads, to form encapsulated tobacco beads having gel coatings. According to another embodiment, an encapsulated tobacco bead comprises a core comprising tobacco particles and encapsulated menthol, an inner coating layer comprising hydroxypropyl methylcellulose or pectin, and an outer coating layer comprising an ionically-crosslinked gel.

A helical turbine is operatively connected to at least one generator system for generating electrical power. System performance is optimized by controlling the operative angle between the longitudinal axis of the turbine and the direction of the current flow and by controlling a pitch ratio of the turbine. A pair of turbines, arranged in V-shape, each at the operative angle from a neutral centerline, provides symmetry and counteracts reactive torque. For wind operations, the V- shape is freely rotatable into the wind. For bi-directional tidal operations, the V- shape is part of a buoyant structure, positioned in the current and anchored to the floor. The structure is fit with control surfaces to ensure the system orientation. In unidirectional currents, one or more turbines can be angled downwardly into the current at the operative angle, elevators ensuring the angle is maintained.

The present invention is directed to a process for producing a polyamide, which process includes directly melt-polymerizing a diamine component including 70 mol % or more of p-xylylenediamine and a dicarboxylic acid component including 70 mol % or more of a C6 to C18 aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, in the absence of solvent in a batch-type reactor equipped with a stirring blade, the process including: (1) reacting the diamine component with the dicarboxylic acid component under a pressure condition of 0.2 to 0.5 MPa (Abs); (2) maintaining a vapor phase section of a reaction tank of the reactor at 200.degree. C. or higher during reaction; (3) stirring the contents of the reaction tank, from the start of adding the diamine component until after completion of the addition and before the start of pressure falling, such that the stirring-related Froude number represented by a specific formula is adjusted to 0.0002 to 0.15; and (4) employing a stirring blade having no structural body in the horizontal direction or having a structural body in the horizontal direction, which body does not come into contact with the interface between the reaction mixture and the vapor phase section during stirring. In the polyamide production process, deposition of solid matter in the reaction tank vapor section and in a vapor pipe is suppressed, and incorporation into the product of unmelted solid matter originating from the deposits is reduced.

[57] Abstract:

A protected blister package (50) assembled by a pharmacist for a patient has the correctness of its assembly confirmed by checking the correct correlation of three binary codes (17) respectively appearing on three components of the package. The codes are intended to provide information relating to the identity of the patient and the nature and quantity of prescribed medication doses in the blisters of the package. The first component comprises a blister sheet (58) loaded with the prescribed medication doses; the second component comprises a backing sheet (57) sealing the medication doses in the cavities of the package blisters; and the third component comprises a protective card (51) having fold lines (52,53 and 54) enabling it to be folded around the blister package (50) after it has been attached to the card. Prior to assembly of the blister package two of the binary codes (17) are printed on the backing sheet (57) and the third binary code is printed on the card. The three codes are printed at the same time to ensure that they are identical. During assembly of the package a portion of the backing sheet bearing one of its two codes is transferred to a predetermined position on the blister sheet. Correct horizontal positioning of the blister package (50) in the card achieved by lining up the left hand edge of the package with the fold line (52) and correct vertical positioning of the package is achieved by lining up the set of blocks (56) on the package with the set of blocks (55) on the protective card (51) After assembly of the protected blister package the three binary codes (17) are scanned to check that they are identical. If identity of the three codes is confirmed the package has been correctly assembled.
