Georgia opened the road trip with a 3-2 victory over Georgia State in Atlanta before traveling to Fayetteville to open league play against Arkansas. The Razorbacks won that match 3-2, which marked the third straight five-set match the Bulldogs played in including a five- set lost to Georgia Tech at the end of the Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 11. It marked the first time in the rally-scoring era that the Bulldogs have played three-straight five set contests, and the last time the UGA program was involved in three five-set matches in a row was 1994. Auburn • The Auburn volleyball team opened Southeastern Conference competition on the road last weekend as the Tigers traveled to LSU on Friday and Arkansas on Sunday. Auburn opened its match against LSU with a 25-22 first-set victory, but couldn’t hold on as LSU finished out the match with wins in the second, third and fourth sets. Sophomore Sarah Bullock tallied 14 kills and 12 digs, while Liz Crouch had a season-best 26 digs on the night. On Sunday, Auburn turned it around as the Tigers outlasted Arkansas and took the 3-2 victory. Senior Morgan Johns finished with 17 kills and had a .429 attack percentage, while Bullock recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 kills and a career-high 21 digs. Auburn now stands at 10-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. SERIES HISTORY Georgia • Tennessee has an all-time record of 38-23 against Georgia, including wins in 13 of the last 14 matches between the two squads. Last season, the Lady Vols swept the Bulldogs at home, 25- 11, 25-15, 25-17, before outlasting them in five frames on the road in Athens, 24-26, 25-17, 25-18, 19-25, 15-10. Auburn • The Big Orange holds a commanding 24-13-1 advantage over Auburn, but has had a tough time putting them away on the road the last few seasons. Although UT has won 16 of the last 18 matches against the Tigers, both losses have come on the road in the last three seasons, including a tough, five-set defeat last year, in a match it led two sets to none. UP NEXT The Lady Vols will return to Rocky Top next week for a Wednesday night showdown against No. 24 Kentucky at 8 p.m. on ESPNU. They will then host Ole Miss at 7 p.m. on Friday evening.
