Offensively, Kentucky features a four-pronged attack, led by freshman Whitney Billings who ranks 10th in the SEC with an average of 2.98 kills per set. Three other members of the squad are averaging over two putaways per frame. Although UK leads the all-time series against Tennessee, 39-26, the Lady Vols have won the last three matches between the two squads, including sweeping the season series last year. Ole Miss • After opening last weekend with a triumph over South Carolina, Ole Miss saw its seven- match winning streak snapped by No. 2 Florida on Sunday. Junior Regina Thomas has been the team’s most dynamic player so far this season, as she leads the SEC with a .405 hitting percentage, as well as 1.31 blocks per set. Fellow classmate Morgan Springer, meanwhile, ranks second in the league with an average of 5.13 digs per frame. The Lady Vols have absolutely dominated the all- time series with the Rebels to the tune of 35-6. PROMOTIONS Wednesday • “High School Night” - $1 admission for all high school volleyball players and coaches • Student Rewards - One student will win two pre-game sideline passes and two tickets to the Tennessee-Alabama football game on Oct. 23. Student must be present to claim prize. Friday • “Boys and Girls Club Night”– Free admission for all B&G Club members, plus a voucher for a free hot dog and drink • Student Rewards CHALK TALK WITH ROB PATRICK Lady Vol volleyball fans are encouraged to attend a “Chalk Talk” session with UT Head Coach Rob Patrick at the Courtside Club in the Ray Mears Room at Thompson-Boling Arena prior to every home match this season. Gates to the arena will open one hour before first serve and Pat- rick’s session will begin 45 minutes prior to the start of the match. A match ticket is required for admission. Those wishing to attend a match are asked to call the Media Relations Office to be placed on the pass list. Photo credentials will be issued only to accredited photographers or those individuals on specialassignment.Because therearespecificallydesignated areas for photographers, we ask thatanyone shooting a Lady Vol volleyball match at Thompson-BolingArenacheckwithHarrispriortothestartofthecontest.
Radio Thompson-BolingArena isavailableforradiobroadcasts through UT Telephone Services. In order to access these lines, those interested in broadcasting a particular match need to informthe UT Athletics Media Relations Office in writing at their earliest convenience and no later than three weeks prior to the contest. Radio stations also will need to contact UT Telephone Services at (865)974-3121toorderatelephonelineforuseatthe contest(s).
Statistical Services Services provided include statistics generated from the StatCrew computer program. Matchstatistics will be handed to all attending members of the media and sports information personnelafter every game. Following the conclusion ofthe match, final statistics will be faxed/e-mailedto the visiting sports information director’sfax/e-mail list. Results will also be e-mailed tothe sports information contact of visiting teamsat theconclusionof thematch in lieuofasportsinformationrepresentativetravelingwithhisorherteam. Arrangements should be made in advance foranyadditionalservices.
Interviews Interviews will be available following thematchaftera10-minutecooling-offperiod.Mediawishing to interview the coaches or any players other than on game days are required to set upinterviews with 24 hours notice through Cameron Harris in the UT Media Relations Office.

Two-timeNationalCoachoftheYearRobPatrickhasdevelopeda tradition of excellence since coming to Tennessee 13 years ago.Following his arrival at Rocky Top, Patrick has become one of thenation’stopcoachesandhelpedtheLadyVolsattainlevelsofsuccessneverbeforereachedinKnoxville,asevidencedbyNCAATournamentberthsinfiveofthelastsixyears,includingaruntotheFinalFourin2005.Hisnine-yearstretchofwinningseasonsfrom1998-2006marksthelongest-suchruninprogramhistory,toppingtheprevioushighofseven,setfrom1978-84.TheBigOrangehaswon20ormorematchesinsixofthelasteightcampaigns.PriortoPatrick’sarrivalatUTin1997,theLadyVolslastrecordeda20-winseasonin1988. PatrickjoinedtheUTprograminJulyof1997afterspendingthe
previousthreeseasonsasanassistantcoachwithnationalpowerhouseStanford.From1994to1996,hehelpedleadtheCardinaltoacombined92-6recordandtwoNCAAchampionships,includingtitle-gamevictoriesoverUCLAandHawaiiin1994and1996,respectively.Duringthatstint,Stanfordneverlostahomematchenroutetoparticipatinginthe1995NCAAFinalFourand winning three consecutive Pac-10 titles.
When Tennessee volleyball coach Rob Patrickwasawalk-onquarterbackandcaptainofthevolleyballteamatMiamiUniversity,hewas surrounded by a coaching tradition that hasbeena“hugeinfluenceonhiscareer.” Longknownas the“CradleofCoaches”foritsuncannyabilitytoproducehigh-calibercoaches,MiamiservedastraininggroundsforsuchgreatsasWoodyHayes,BoSchembechler,PaulBrownandEarl“Red”Blaik, in additionto the roughlyonehundredMiamiofOhiograduates who currently coach at the collegiate orprofessionallevel. With six NCAA tournament appearances andanSECtitleofhisown,Patrick isalreadyUT’s all-time wins leader with 277 in 14 years as head coach. ContinuingMiami’straditionofproducingfuturegenerationsofcoaches,atleast15LadyVols players and assistants have gone on to coachaftertheirtimewithPatrick.

TENNESSEE NO. 13 IN RKPI AlthoughtheNCAAhasyettoreleasethefirstofficialRPIoftheseason,Tennesseewouldlikelybeverypleasedifitdid.IntheRichKernPercentageIndex, a computer-generated ranking system on RichKern.com designed to simulate the NCAA’s RPI, the Lady Vols currently rank No. 13 in the nation. MuchofUT’shighrankinghastodowiththequalityofoppositionithasfacedsofarthisyear.Includingthetop-rankedGators,theBigOrangehas already taken on No. 8 Florida State, 11th-rated Northwestern,No.19Oklahomaand23rd-rankedVirginia Tech.
SEC STRONGER THAN EVER Withfourteamscurrentlyrankedorreceivingvotes in the American Volleyball Coaches Associationpoll,theSoutheasternConferenceisas strong as it has ever been. In addition to No. 23 Tennessee, Florida is ranked second, LSU comes in at No. 16 and Kentucky is receiving votes. AllfourteamsalsoparticipatedintheNCAATournamentlastyearwitheachsquadhostingthefirstandsecondrounds.
ATTACK OF THE LADY VOLS! The Lady Vol offense has been extremely effectivethusfarthisseason.Asateam,TennesseeistiedwithLSUforthehighesthittingpercentagein the league as it is hitting at an impressive .288 clip.ItalsorankssecondintheconferencebehindtheTigerswithanaverageof14.14killsperset. Leading the way is senior Nikki Fowler who ranks fourth in theSECwith3.64 killsper set.Fellow senior Leah Hinkey and junior Kayla Jeter, meanwhile, check in at the eighth and 10th spots on the league’s hitting percentage chart with attackaveragesof.328and.324,respectively.
BIG ORANGE GOES ON THE OFFENSIVE in its 3-1 road victory over Auburn on Sept. 26, Tennessee hit an amazing .421 as a team with 59killsandjust11errorson114swings.Includedin that mark was an absolutely astounding .708 attack average (18-1-24) in the opening set. The last time the Lady Vols posted such an impressiveoffensiveperformancecameagainstAlabama on Nov. 11, 2005, when they hit .467 (56-7-105).
KEEPING IT LOCAL For thefirst time since1981, theLadyVolvolleyball roster features fourplayers from thestateofTennessee inNashvillenativesDeeDeeHarrison and Ellen Mullins, Chattanooga product Jasmine Brown and Knoxville’s own KylannScheidt. The last timeUT had four players fromTennesseewasunderBobBertucci29yearsagowhenPamMcMahan,BeverlyGarner,KimHacklerandPamHacklerallsuitedupfortheOrangeandWhite. In another roster oddity, this season also marksthefirsttimesince1993thattheBigOrangedoesnothaveaplayerfromthestateofCalifornia.
FOWLER MAKES HISTORY (TAKE ONE) As Nikki Fowler continues to inch her way up the UT career kill and dig charts, she doesn’t have anywhere else to go on the total attacks list, as she took over the top spot during the Lady Vols’ victory at Auburn on Sept. 26. Fowler’s career attacks total currently sits at 3,887,surpassingthepreviousmarkof3,881setbyArianaWilsonfrom1998-2001.
FOWLER MAKES HISTORY (TAKE TWO) Arguably the greatest all-around player in Tennessee history, senior Nikki Fowler become justthefourthplayerinprogramannalstohitthe1,000 mark in both kills and digs with nine scoops against Florida State on Sept. 4.

before downing Chattanooga the followingmorning. It then took out Virginia Tech Saturday evening to claim the tournament title. UT TABBED AS SEC FAVORITE TheUniversity ofTennessee volleyballteam has been selected to win the 2010 SoutheasternConferencevolleyball title inapreseason vote by the league’s 11 coaches. This marksthefirsttimesince1994thatateamotherthan Florida has been voted to capture the title, snapping at least a 16-year run at the honors by the Gators. TheLadyVolsreceivednineofthe11first-placevotesfortheleaguechampion.Theothertwo tallies both went to UF. Tennessee received 11 points to win the EasternDivision, followedbyFloridawith21points and Kentucky with 25. Georgia and South Carolinaarepickedtofinishfourthandfifthinthe division respectively. The Gators did receive twofirst-placevotesforoverallchampion. ThedefendingSECChampionLSUTigersarepredictedtowintheWesternDivisionforthe third consecutive seasonwith 13 first-place votes. The Tigers posted an 18-2 league record and a 25-7 overall record. UT HISTORY IN HOME OPENERS Throughout the years, theUniversity ofTennessee volleyball team has amassed a stellar 27-5 (.844) record in home openers, including a 3-0 triumph over Xavier on Aug. 27 this season. During the Rob Patrick era, the Lady Vols have been even betterwithan13-1(.929)markinhis13yearsatthe helm. The lone loss during that span was to LSU on Sept. 21, 2001. This seasonmarked just the fourth time inthepast20yearsthattheBigOrangehasopenedtheseasonathome.Beforestartingofflastseasonat homewith a sweepofTennesseeTech, theBigOrangelastdiditin2006whenitwelcomedVirginia, Centenary and Miami (Ohio) to Knoxville for theComcast LadyVolClassic. LADY VOL PAIR SELECTED TO PRESEASON ALL-SEC TEAM Senior Nikki Fowler and junior Kayla Jeter both claimed spots on the preseason All-Southeastern Conference teamas the leagueannounced thesquadtolaunchthe2010season.
