With drought conditions and water restrictions, we, as responsible citizens have decided to close tomorrow and for the holiday weekend and serve up a picnic meal (to conserve water, we have been asked to use paper products) today. Wow! We are constantly amazed by the incredible support of The F.A.R.M. Cafe's community! The Match Challenge is going strong with over half of the new challenge met in 3 days. To recap: An anonymous donor (who had originally challenged us up to $2000) has agreed to up their maximum donation by $1000 if we receive 50 $10 donations in one week. Your $10 donation becomes a $30 donation to the cafe if we can reach this goal. Thank you so much to our Real.Good.Community. for all of your support in helping us Fight Hunger in the High Country!
Today's menu is a Cafe Favorite: Patty Melt Reubens with Sweet Potato Fries as well as our wonderful soups, fresh veggies and a beautiful Black Bean and Corn Salad.
Today's menu features lots of local goodness with veggies from the High Country CSA and Bratwurst from North Fork Farm. For dessert, we will be serving up a refreshing treat, the Cafe's twist on Strawberry Shortcake. Ours features beautiful strawberries served on blueberry biscuits w/whipped cream. Limited quantity so come in early and don't miss this!

On this sunny Friday, we are serving up some flavorful quesadilla's filled with local veggies and a tasty avocado hummus as our main with three house made soups and various sides for lunch!
Along with our incredible Patty Melt Reubens, we are serving up some of the bounty from our first produce share from the High Country CSA today. We have a 5 Farm Greens and Corn Soup and beautiful lettuces and radishes in our mixed green salad. Thank you also to Margaret G. for the generous donation via Amazon of couscous (featured in our couscous salad) and cans of EVOO, your support is greatly appreciated!
Happy June 1st all! To start this month off right, Renee is cooking up some cheddar grits two ways: 1) with a yummy Vegetarian Tomato Sauce or 2) with Chorizo and Shrimp in a Tomato Sauce. Either way, it's sure to be a satisfying meal!

Today we say Thank You to our incredible Culinary Intern, Michelle Tibbett as she finishes up her official time with us. She has been a wonderful part of the team with her bright personality, work ethic and creative culinary skills. She will be missed but we look forward to many visits!
Tamales are coming, tamales are coming! We're thankful for our board member and ASU
professor, Laurie A. Ramirez who is in the cafe today to teach us how to make tamales. We are looking forward to sampling and sharing this treat with you all. As this is a learning experience, they may be a little late joining the menu line up (arriving between 11:30-12:30), but are sure to be worth the wait. If you can't wait for their arrival, we'll be serving up a delicious, Mexican Inspired menu all day!
It's a bit rainy and dreary today and we've got the perfect lunch to brighten your day with three homemade soups, a delicious Jerk seasoned Pork Tenderloin and some great sides. Come out of the rain and grab a great meal and visit our Real.Good.Community.

Yesterday, we had our first unwelcome visitor in the Cafe: A Ransomware virus that took out 4 years of documents without asking. Thanks to our wonderful community, we have a fantastic tech working hard to get us up and running again. Because of this, we may be a bit slower to respond to internet inquiries but will work hard to get back to everyone.
It's a great day to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather! Before you head out, come down to the Cafe for a great meal to fuel up or grab a take out meal and enjoy a picnic while taking in the beauty of the High Country!

Today is National Cabbage Day so we are serving a wonderful Northfork Farm Bratwurst with cabbage and peppers entree to celebrate. Cabbage was once widely grown in Watauga County so much so that there was once a sauerkraut plant in Boone. Boone Creek is still nicknamed Kraut Creek since they used to say that it smelled of sauerkraut juice coming out of the plant. Join us today for this great meal in honor of National Cabbage Day!

REAL.GOOD.PARTY! we've decided to keep the fun going with a Raffle opportunity here in the Cafe this week. We've got local beef and local sausage - thinking Patty Melt with Swiss Cheese & Caramelized Onions but we also are thinking, local homemade Sauerkraut, Chipotle Slaw & Garlic Butter Grilled Rye Bread! Delicious! So...for now, we're calling this a Patty Melt Reuben but we may change that name as the sandwich evolves! Come join us, enjoy a great meal and let us know what you think!
