The Colonies were worried about American expansion and invasion into their settlements.

If the colonies united, they could work together to defend themselves.

The colonies were separated by large areas of land and landforms. A railway would increase trade, move troops faster, and people could travel quicker and explore more of the land.

If the colonies worked together, they could share the cost and build the railway quicker and more efficiently.
