EYV 2011 Alliance Members

A bit of “history”

• 2008 – Alliance formed, Call for European Year of Volunteering 2011• Promotion and implementation of EYV 2011• in 2012 – 39 European networks representing around 2000 of organisations and millions of volunteers – by May 2012 Alliance ended

EYV 2011 Alliance achievements• voice of volunteering organisations during EYV 2011, coordination• partner of the EC and other EU bodies and stakeholders• P.A.V.E. – Policy Agenda for Volunteering in Europe• www.eyv2011.eu - info, yearbook etc.

Developing P.A.V.E The working groups met 5 times in 2011 and were composed of more than 100 experts, including 6 Scouts (1 co-chair, 2nd on behalf of YFJ).

P.A.V.E was presented to the European Commission at the EYV 2011 closing conference in December 2011 in Warsaw, Poland.

P.A.V.E Objectives•More efficient and effective policy framework •To support and promote volunteers, volunteering and volunteer-involving organisations. •Ensure a lasting legacy for EYV 2011 by encouraging all stakeholders to address the shortcomings of current policies. •Addresses Stakeholder groups according to EYV 2011 objectives

Scouting and volunteering Ensuring the legacy of the European Year of Volunteering 2011

8th February 2013 – establishment of EAV

EAV - VISION• An independent Alliance coordinating the interests of

European, national and regional organisations active in volunteering towards all stakeholders, to ensure the continuing development of an enabling volunteer infrastructure in Europe which supports, recognises and values volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations;

• An inclusive platform representing the diverse nature of

volunteering, whose members work in partnership to do together what we can do better together.

EAV - ADDED VALUE

Added value:

•The P.A.V.E. development booster  •A stronger lobbying power •The only subject for this platform is volunteering •An independent platform open to any volunteering stakeholders •A collaborative and supportive hub on volunteering 

EAV - MISSION

The European Alliance for Volunteering acts as a collaborative and supportive hub for European, national and regional organisations involving volunteers or who support or promote volunteering to advocate for positive change in the volunteering sector.

EAV - OBJECTIVES

• Actively coordinate and develop efforts aimed at appropriate follow-up by targeted stakeholders of the policy recommendations contained in P.A.V.E. and pursue other policy developments;

• Monitor and communicate developments in the European environment for volunteering and related policies, acting as a knowledge hub for volunteering;

• Coordinate and develop initiatives that respond to European policies impacting on volunteers and the volunteering sector.

• recognition, • ensuring legal and financial conditions, • liaising with other stakeholders

What is in there for us, Europe and NSOs?

• Joining forces towards institutions, avoiding duplications – strengthening the impact

• Outsourcing some of our issues or concerns• Example for cooperation at national level

• and … voluntary work
