• We are in the process of implementing a new lookup list selection.

• The selection will be the pencil icon, like in Desktop Edition.

• It can be closed with the X to type in a value.

Forwarding an email

• An issue was fixed where the original message was forwarded even if the highlighted checkbox in this screenshot was unselected.

Virtual File Systems (VFS)

In August’s wMobile online user group, this topic won the poll for the October online user group special topic. The Virtual File System is used to configure access to documents such as email

attachments and linked documents. It is also used by the Remote GoldMine Service to access

GoldMine files such as dll files and the GoldMine license files.

Email attachments

• User email attachments are saved based on user settings. The path might point to a mapped drive or UNC path.

Linked Documents

• Your users might have linked documents under the Linked Documents tab that are saved using UNC or drive mapped paths.

• Email attachments are also listed here.

Remote GoldMine Service

• The Remote GoldMine Service needs access to GoldMine files such as the GoldMine license file, executable file, and dlls.

• The Remote GoldMine Service runs using the built-in Local System account which can’t access mapped drives or UNC paths.

Note• The wMobile Manager

Console no longer requires a GoldMine username/password. This can be disabled in System Settings.

• This is set to False by default on new installations.

• This has been useful when we need to configure access to the GoldMine folder on initial wMobile implementation.

Virtual File System (VFS)

• The Virtual File System is accessed in the wMobile Manager Console.

Configuring VFS

• Access needs to be added for the GoldMine location and any other folders where users might need to access documents.

• VFS entries can be configured for All users, or for a specific user.

Configuring VFS

• Access needs to be added for the GoldMine location and any other folders where users might need to access documents.

• One way to get these entries is using the Select Linked Document Folder paths.

Linked document folders

• The linked document paths located in the ContSupp SQL table will be examined for UNC paths. If any exist, they’ll be listed for selection.

• Checkmark any current paths and select Import.

Linked doc paths

• The path(s) will be added for you.

Manual entry• If no listings were found

using “Select Linked Doc Folder Paths” then you can add locations manually.

• Select New Server.• Type in the name of the

server and click on Continue.

• The name cannot include any special characters.

Add share

• Next add the share, wherever GoldMine is installed. In my example, GoldMine is in a folder shared as Apps.

• Select New Share and enter the Share name.

• Click Continue to save the setting.

Mapped Drive

• If this share is commonly access using a drive mapping, then the drive letter can be added here.

Remote UserName

• If documents reside on another server, or if a UNC path is used, then Windows credentials will need to be added to access the documents and GoldMine files.

Test all paths• You can test an individual

path, or use Test All Paths to test all at once.

• Any paths where access is not tested successfully will be shown in red.

• Click on the Messages tab in the bottom right to see the log of testing.

• Sometimes Remote Username needs to be added with Domain\Username.

Restart RGMS

• When you navigate away from VFS settings, you’ll be prompted to restart the Remote GoldMine Service for the changes to take effect.

Tech Tip

• Sometimes SysDir lines get reintroduced into a gm.ini file in the GoldMine root directory.

• When the Remote GoldMine Service is restarted, it won’t be able to access the GoldMine files without proper VFS settings.
