Megavind connects the Danish wind energy community. Key stakeholders in the platform involve the wind energy industry, governmental stakeholders and research institutions. The scope of Megavind is to create a virtual and physical platform via which the wind energy community can communicate, coordinate and collaborate its work and activities related to research, innovation and technology. The ambition is to define and agree on concrete research and innovation (R&I) priorities and communicate these to decision making bodies in Denmark and beyond in order to support the ambition of reaching the RES targets for 2030.

Experiences using WASA in teaching• Data easily accessible and free• Few copyright considerations• WASA data are ‘real data’• Easy to mimic real-life projects• State-of-the-art data of high quality• WASA project well documented• Tools and software available• WASA part of wider tradition• SA climatology challenging
⇒WASA data are excellent for teaching and project work

The report provides • an overview and status of wind energy education in South Africa and Denmark as
presented and discussed at the workshop at the Windaba Conference Nov 2016 • Descriptions of some opportunities and examples of making use of WASA data and
materials for teaching
The report mentions that wind energy courses are held in South Africa as part of graduate and post graduate studies at a.o.• Stellenbosch University• University of Cape Town (UCT)• Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU)• SARETEC
Wind energy education in Denmark is further described in this presentation for inspiration and illustration of the value of WASA data and materials.
