What is CAMPUS?

Purpose

An academic and college preparation program designed to meet the specific needs of students attending LCPS high schools

Serves over 450 students countywide

Admission to and success in college are among

the goals of the program.

CURRENTLY SERVING OVER 450 LCPS STUDENTS

106 GRADUATING SENIORS IN 2017

97 % OF THOSE GRADUATING SENIORS WILL

BE ATTENDING COLLEGE IN THE FALL

402 HONORS COURSES TAKEN

82% OF STUDENTS ENROLLED IN AT LEAST

Grade Level Action Plans All students are assigned “tasks” in Family Connection. These tasks are listed below by grade level, as well as recommendations that students should follow to best prepare themselves in the college application process.

9th Grade Attend the LCPS College Fair

Complete Career Cluster Finder Write 1 – 2 essays answering given prompts (prompts derived from The Common Application)

Begin to build Resume

Become involved in extracurricular activities

10th Grade Attend the LCPS College Fair Complete Career Interest Profiler Explore RoadTrip Nation Perform College Search Build/Edit Resume Write 1 – 2 essays answering given prompts (prompts derived from The Common Application) Attend college visit to Northern Virginia Community College

11th Grade Attend the LCPS College Fair

Register/Attend in-school college visits

Complete Strengths Explorer

Perform College Search

Build/Edit Resume

Take ACT and/or SAT during spring months

Participate in Job for a Day

Attend college visit to George Mason University

12th Grade Attend the LCPS College Fair

Register/Attend in-school college visits

Take the October ACT and/or SAT

Begin college applications - College Board recommends applying to 3 - 4 colleges

Attend a financial aid presentation

Apply for a minimum of 3 scholarships – if eligible, the Gates-Millennium should be one of them

Complete Graduation Survey

Complete Senior Celebration Survey

Fall & Spring College Visits

Upperclass students are encouraged to

attend at least 1 college visit per year.

Freshman students will visit different

college & university campuses online and

also watch campus virtual tours online.

CAMPUS Student Ambassadors

Serve as representatives for the CAMPUS

Participate in leadership opportunities

Serve as a liaison to CAMPUS students

CAMPUS Selection Process:

Priority will be given to students who would be the first in their family to attend and/or graduate from a college or university

Strong consideration will be given to families that may be considered socioeconomically disadvantaged

Consideration is given to students who come from a historically underrepresented population
