also known as the bubonic plague.
The Bubonic plague was a contagious epidemic disease that was transmitted by fleas on rats.
Symptoms This disease was
very fatal. The symptoms
included chills, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and the formation of buboes.
Effects Economy
Many financial businesses disrupted because their owners were dying.
The labor shortage was extremely severe.
Entire families were dying out and their possessions were left with no heirs.
Effects Population
One out of every three people died (Europe’s population decreased by one-third).
Effects Culture
Professors and teachers were dying. Therefore, schools and universities closed and people stopped receiving education.
Priests and bishops were also dying and churches were abandoned.
Effects Politics
