São Bento Railway StationIN THE HEART OF PORTO CITY

São Bento Station is located in the city of Oporto – its historical building was awarded as a World Heritage by UNESCO in 1996.

By its intrinsic historical value, dating from the start of the 20th century, the building became a major touristic and cultural attraction in the city.

It is situated at Oporto's downtown, and near the main shopping street of the city.

7

José Marques da Silva was the architect of São Bento Station.

The most notable aspect of this historical station is the large, magnificent tile panels in the vestibule, work of Jorge Colaço, the most important portuguese tile painter of the time.

August 2011 – distinguished as one of the most beautiful train stations in the world by ‘Travel & Leisure’ magazine.

April 2012 – distinguished as one of the top-ten beautiful train stations in the world by ‘Flavorwire’ magazine.
