We also conjugate verbs according to WHEN the action takes place (tensetense)

The preterite tense is used to describe an action completed in the PAST.

The verb ‘ir’ means to go has an irregular conjugation in the preterite.

The verb hacer is also irregular when conjugated in the preterite tense.
