Key Terms

• Cost of Quality- is an important measurement for achieving maximum focus and improvement in any organization.

• Nomenclature- Nomenclature refers to either a list of names and/or terms, or to the system of principles, procedures and terms related to naming.

• Confounding Variables- Confounding variables are variables that the researcher fail to control, or eliminate, damaging the internal validity of an experiment.

• Intellectual Capital- The term intellectual capital collectively refers to all resources that determine the value and the competitiveness of an enterprise.

• Emotional Intelligence- Emotional Intelligence (EI), often measured as an Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ), is a term that describes the ability, capacity, skill or (in the case of the trait EI model) a self-perceived ability, to identify, assess, and manage the emotions of one's self, of others, and of groups.

• Patient Safety Indicators- The Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs) are a tool to help health system leaders identify potential adverse events occurring during hospitalization.

• Knowledge Capital- is a concept which asserts that ideas have intrinsic value which can be shared and leveraged within and between organizations.

• Convergence- Convergence is the approach toward a definite value, a definite point, a common view or opinion, or toward a fixed or equilibrium state.

• Corporate Social Responsibility- a voluntary approach that a business enterprise takes to meet or exceed stakeholder expectations by integrating social, ethical, and environmental concerns together with the usual measures of revenue, profit, and legal obligation.

• Outcomes Measures- Determination and evaluation of the results of an activity, plan, process, or program and their comparison with the intended or projected results
