Setting of RS485 communication parameters with a standard communication programBeforeconnectingtheprobetotheRS485networkyoumustassignanaddressandsetthecommunicationparameters,ifdifferentfromthefactorypreset.TheparametersettingisperformedbyconnectingtheprobetothePCaccordingtooneofthefollowingtwoways:
A.ByusingtheoptionalcableCP24,withbuilt‑inRS485/USBconverter.Inthiscon‑nectionmode,theprobeispoweredbytheUSBportofthePC.TousethecableitisnecessarytoinstalltheUSBdriversinthePC.
B.Byusingthesupplied8‑poleM12femaleconnectorortheoptionalcableCPM12‑8P ... and a RS485/USB or RS485/RS232 generic converter. In this connectionmodetheprobeshouldbepoweredseparately.IfRS485/USBconverterisuseditisnecessarytoinstalltherelativeUSBdriversinthePC.
Notes on the installation of unsigned USB drivers:before installingunsignedUSBdriversintoWindowsoperatingsystems7and8,itisnecessarytorestartthePCdisa‑blingthedriversignaturerequest.Iftheoperatingsystemis64‑bit,evenafterinstallation,itisnecessarytodisabletherequestofthedriversignatureeverytimethePCisrestarted.Disabling is not necessary if the CP24 cable is used.
Procedure for setting the parameters1.Startwhilethesensorisnotpowered(iftheCP24cableisused,disconnectoneendofthecable).
2.Startaserialcommunicationprogram,HyperTerminalforexample.SettheBaudRateto57600andsetthecommunicationparametersasfollows(theinstrumentisconnectedtoaCOMtypeport):
DataBits=8,Parity=None,StopBits=2 Intheprogram,setthenumberoftheCOMporttowhichyouconnecttheprobe.
3.Switchthesensoron(whenusingtheCP24cable,connectbothends).4.Waituntiltheprobetransmitsthe&character,thensend(within10secondsfromprobepoweron)thecommand @ andpressEnter.
Note:iftheprobedoesnotreceivethe@commandwithin10secondsfrompoweron,theRS485MODBUSmodeisautomaticallyactivated.Insuchacase,itisnec‑essarytoswitchoffandpowerontheprobeagain.

The register is clearedafter reading. If theerror conditionpersists, then theerrorcodeisrestored.
