A SELECTION OF POETRY

From January 13th through 17th, 2014, Thompson students (grades 2 – 5) were introduced to the book, Heart to Heart: New Poems inspired by Twentieth-Century American Art, edited by Jan Greenberg. They were then asked to take up to fifteen minutes to write their own poems. These poems are but a few examples of the amazing creativity that came from this activity. Enjoy!

The Quiet Night

The sun goes down. The moon comes out.The quiet night comes.Lights go out in houses. The night sleepsNo sound to be heardOnly the sound of hooting.

In quiet time,The moon shinesOver the dreaming kids,Dreaming good dreams. The town is asleep now.Animals come outTo have a party.
