and how we use our senses to describe them.
Discuss how certain properties help us to sort matter into categories or states of matter.
What is matter?
• Everything in our universe is made of matter.
• All matter takes up space and has weight.
• There are 3 basic states of matter: Solid, liquid, Gas
STATES of matter?
What would it take for matter to move from one state to another?
Energy determines the state!
Solid

Gas
Molecules in Solids: Are packed tightly
together Molecules only have
space to vibrate. Have very little
energy
