CONCEPT“That Girl” is a new style of graphic publication aimed
at 7-9 year old children. It is to be produced four times
a year to coincide with each season and will showcase
the latest in fashion and lifestyle trends, using a mix
of photography, illustration and typography to tell a
narrative. The concept aims to teach younger readers
moral and social issues relevant to today’s society, and
help them in making their own choices through their
individuality. Influences have been taken from younger
fashion and lifestyle trends and social and moral
issues.
PUBLICATIONThe opening publication for ‘That Girl’ series of books
is to be introduced for Autumn 2010, and will portray
the fashion, social and cultural trends relevant to that
season. The chosen theme for the first issue,
concentrates on rustic, neutral trends with a heavy mix
of handmade clothing and small, detailed, applique
accessories. The narrative tells the story of a girl and
her place in society, and tackles the issues of recycling,
peer pressure and inner confidence, which children of
7-9 years of age, can all relate to.
Public relation is a vital part of any new product, and
will aid greatly in the promotion and awareness of
“That Girl”. Penny Little and Company, are a small but

Naseem Khan announces the release of children’s book series ‘That Girl’
That Girl – the first in a series of children’s fashion books, features the season’s latest fashion and life-
style trends and offers a heart warming and inspiring story of a young girl and her constant struggles
with an ever-changing society around her.
This imaginative and creative book introduces young readers to the issues surrounding the world and
inspires to teach them to make their own choices through life, and the exploration of self confidence
and playfulness through it’s stunning photography and graphic work.
“ I wanted to create a publication that would inspire a younger generation to stand up to society
and the pressure it can put on people starting from a young age,” explains creator Naseem Khan.
“Fashion is a staple part of most people’s life and can shape who a person is from a young age. That
Girl is aimed at children with an interest in the creative, fashion side of life and urges them to express
themselves in how they feel, not how society makes them feel.”
For the first time, Seven Stories Centre for Children’s Books, plays host to ‘That Girl’ for an afternoon
of fun and fashion and will explore a new world of independence and imagination.

“That Girl” is to be launched at Seven Stories Centre for
Children’s Books, Newcastle upon Tyne. This will be the
first chance to meet with possible publishers, agents,
press and public, and will allow for the first sales of the
publication. The event will involve a storytelling from
the creator followed by a book signing.
