What is SES?

• Free tutoring in reading, math, and/or science from state-approved providers for eligible students

• Students must be eligible for Free/Reduced-priced meals

• Parents must choose the provider

What is SES? (Cont.)• Mandated as a choice by NCLB at SINI

schools (under FLDAM)

• Maximum per student allocation is $1254

• The district does not provide transportation for tutoring; providers may not transport students

• Priority given to the lowest-achieving eligible students (FCAT Levels 1 & 2)

How will your school benefit?

• Increases opportunity to assist students to meet proficiency

• Provides additional funding for school-center tutorial

• Provides opportunity to generate rental revenue

Timeline• August 18, 2011 - Enrollment packets

mailed to students eligible for F/R-priced meals

• August 22, 2011 - Names of SES school contacts will be given to providers

• August 23-24, 2011 - Duplicate enrollment packets sent home in backpacks (only to students on F/R-priced meals)

• August 27- 31, 2011 - Provider Fairs

• September 7, 2011 – Enrollment forms due

• Week of September 21, 2011 - Providers will receive student rosters

• Week of October 10, 2011 - Tutoring begins

• Assist parents with enrollment• Encourage parents to attend a

Provider Fair and/or ask questions• Remain impartial - don’t promote

one provider over another • Review student participation data

in Cayen Systems

• Keep a file of all paperwork• Assist providers with leasing

classroom space (if applicable)• Train office staff and faculty about

SES• Upon request, provide student

achievement data to providers (when available)

• Participate in Title I/SES audiobridges• Enrollment forms received at the

district requiring additional information will be sent to you via PONY; please resubmit revised forms as soon as possible (pre-addressed PONY labels have been included in your folder)
