History
-Wild life photographer George Shiras was the first known person to use “trail cameras” in the late 1880’s. -In 1906, National Geographic published the first trail camera photos using Shiras’ Michigan wildlife shots. -Trail cameras over time have evolved from large box film cameras to digital devices as small as ones hand. -Trail cameras started as “camera traps,” where somebody would set up trip wire connected to a camera and as the animal passed a photo would be taken.
From then to now• Early trail cams had motion detection, yet the motion it picked up was that of the
wind, leaves blowing, or something a simple as rain falling. Todays trail cams have advanced technology using digital versions with precise motion and large memory capacity.
• The first trail cams took a single picture at a time, in the 1950’s they could then take 36 photos at the most with 35mm film, to where we are today having the ability to take hundreds and hundreds of photos on a single film real.
• Early cams were restricted to photos taken in day light, todays cams have zero restrictions because they are equipped with infrared motion detection systems allowing them to detect motion at night and use flash before taking the photo.
Other uses
Trail cams are not only used to capture amazing action shots of animals in their natural habitat. They are also used to catch people doing things they should not be doing, such as. • Poaching• Moonshining • Trespassing• Drug activity Officers will place cameras in areas they believe people are breaking the law. What better evidence id there than video evidence… exactly!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG_aAxXbGM8
Abilities
• HD video with audio (clear video with pure sound)
• Field Scan 2x with Live Trigger• Hyper Night vision (ability to take photos and videos at night)
• Auto PIR adjusts based on temperature (recognizes an animal by the heat contrast with the surroundings)
• Tags your images with GPS coordinates (show you where and when the photo was taken)
• Widescreen (16:9) or full-screen (4:3) images and video. (when displayed it can be viewed in two different ways)

Prices
Trail cams prices range anywhere between just 70 dollars to as high up as 4, 5, 6 hundred dollars, it just depends on…• Durability (how long it will last in harsh conditions)
• Attachments (Covering, Stands, larger battery)
• Camouflage (snow, desert, forest, swamp lands)
• Size (smaller = more $$)
• Ability (what it is capable of doing)
Be careful… you NEVER know where a trail cam might be placed… So next time you’re doing something you shouldn't’t be doing in the woods remember you just may not be as alone as you think you are…
