¨ Britain is our biggest trading partner. Aiding France could have a devastating effect on our new economy.

¨ Britain has joined many other European countries in a war against France. Siding with the French would make them our enemies. We had a difficult time winning our Revolution, and might not be able to survive another one. Plus, we are in huge debt.

¨ What would we do if Britain refuses to trade with us as a result of aiding France?

¨ How are we going to fight and finance another war?

he served as a symbol of national unity for 8 years¨ His farewell address provided advice and

warnings for the country:– Benefits of federal government– Against political parties– Importance of morality– Maintain stable credit– Policy of neutrality– Against over-powerful militaries
