• To develop pupils’ understanding of

mathematical concepts in the following areas:

[ Numerical, Geometrical, Statistical & Algebraic ]

• Use mathematical language, symbols and

diagrams to represent and communicate

mathematical ideas;

• Present and interpret information in

written, graphical, diagrammatic and tabular forms

P6 Mathematics

Knowledge – recall specific mathematical

facts, concepts, rules and formulae, and to

perform straightforward computations.

Comprehension – interpret data and usemathematical concepts, rules or formulae to solve routine or familiar mathematical problems.

Application – analyse data and/ or applymathematical concepts, rules or formulae in a complex situation, and to solve unfamiliar problems.

Format of Paper

The examination format :

Paper 1 (50 min) is the non-calculator component

to ensure that important computational skills

continue to receive emphasis.

Paper 2 (1 h 40 min) is the component which

allows the use of calculators.

• The two papers will be taken on the same day

with a recess break between the papers.

will be kept comparable with previous years’.

Assessment

Type of Calculator

• Only calculators that are approved by the

Singapore Examinations & Assessment Board

(SEAB) will be allowed in the examination.

• The list of approved calculators is available on

SEAB’s website: http://www.seab.gov.sg

• To maintain continuity from primary to secondary

education, these calculators can also be used at

the secondary level.

- CASIO model which is valid till 2017

No. of Sessions: 12 (Participants are required to attend 2 days of lessons during

Notes from the Math Teacher

• There will be homework almost daily. However, the

problem sums will be kept to a maximum of 15

sums only.

• Assignments are always due the next school day,

otherwise a letter/email of excuse from parents is

expected.

Notes from the Math Teacher

• Please help to reinforce the message at home that

in order to do well in PSLE, pupils have to do

checking by the Working Backwards method and

that they should not be too dependent on

calculators to do arithmetic operations.

• Please complete all own revision papers /

assessment books by T3W10. After the

September holiday, there are only 12 more

school days before the first PSLE written

paper.

• During those few days, the class will be

very busy working on the 2016 Prelim

papers of the other GE centres.
