Why Horror?
We chose horror for the genre to our film opening because it gives wider choices to what the storyline can be, and where to set the location. It also stands out more compared to other genres for example, adventure and comedy.
Our film genre was influenced heavily by our chosen location. The woodland location is a great inspiration to a horror genre film
Location
Our idea for the film opening is to be set in a local woods. This would make a great setting for the content of a horror film. Our location is everything and is the main reason we choose the horror genre
Using the woods as a setting would give a creepy feeling due to knowing that you’re pretty much on your own, away from civilization. There have been films that have chosen woods, forests etc as their main setting.

Our Idea so far…
A group of young adults camping in a woodland area. They become the targets of a psychopathic killer, and their fun trip turns into a fight for survival. The film is based on an anniversary of previous killings that took place in the same location with the same killer. We hope to explain that with the use of a narration, text or etc.
Our idea is simple but effective and achievable. Having a simple storyline helps not to over complicate the film and therefore makes it easier for the audience to establish the film genre and the film story more effectively.

Target Audience
Our film is targeted at the young adults market. As most horror films will have an age certificate of either 15 or 18, so our film can not be aimed at anyone who is classed as a young audience. However a young adult audience would be suitable.
Research also indicates that it is mostly 18 to 25 year olds who watch horror movies and therefore who we are targeting our film to. As they come under the young adults market
