Today’s presentation

5•We’ll offer tips to proactively improve your chapter’s image with 5 important publics.

•These tips are easy for your chapter PR chair to implement.

University community

University community

• Recruit a journalism student.• Take out ads in student newspaper to congratulate new members, graduating seniors, etc. • Make friends with your university PR department to help get the word out.

University community

• Hold a faculty lunch or tea (a good chance to partner with a sorority.• Hold an event for faculty/staff children.• Regularly send press releases to student newspaper.

Send a press release to the hometown newspaper for every new member. Have parents weekends. Establish a mom’s club. Have a letter from the chapter president to parents of new members.

Be there on freshmen move-in day (if your school allows it) with letters on. Have a strong presence at all orientation activities.

Alumni

Alumni

Send chapter reports to The Scroll regularly. Get social: Use the Web, Facebook and other social media to connect with alumni. Send out a chapter e-newsletter but keep it focused on ALUMNI.

The public

The Public

Use your university media relations office to help you publicize your philanthropy/community service events. Take photos and send to the media/post on your home page . Introduce yourself to the higher education reporter from the local newspaper. Have a positive presence at community events (offer to clean up after parades, etc.)
