PanagbengaFebraury 27, 2011

• THE Panagbenga is of a Malayo-Polynesia origin which means “season of blooming.” It is the pride of the Baguio City which raised the status of the City in the tourism industry, as it draws thousands of spectators every year for the display of grandeur floats and well-choreographed street dances.

• This is a much anticipated annual event that takes place every February, which was created as a tribute to the city's flowers and as a way to rise up from the devastation of the 1990 Luzon earthquake.

• The festival includes floats that are decorated with flowers. All throughout the years, the historic event has changed and has progressed, with the inclusion of various activities, but at the same time maintaining the highlights of the event, such as the street dancing competition and the float parade. This year is the 16th Baguio Flower Festival and this year’s theme is “The Environment and Community in Harmony.”
