Is the Growth of SaaS Making SOA Irrelevant?
issues to address:
How do you monitor orders that are received and fulfilled?
Can you send sales orders from your SaaS solution to your
ERP and get an acknowledgement with the status of the order
(Cloud-To-Enterprise interoperability)?
Does your equipment maintenance schedule interfere with
important production needs?
How do you manage information for reporting and decisions?
How do you manage your supply chain going through different SaaS solutions (Cloud-To-Cloud interoperability)?
With SOA, you have the answer to each of those questions. Your
CRM and EAM solutions feed information into your ERP, and that
system kicks necessary information back. For example, when you
take an order into the CRM, the ERP lets you know how much
inventory is on hand, or if production must increase to meet de-
mand. Further, if your EAM system wants to shut down assembly
machines for routine maintenance, but a large, rush order comes
through, your ERP can trigger an alert to hold off on the mainte-
nance so that customer service isn‟t compromised. An integrated
system provides the reporting and analytics that lets you make
well-informed decisions quickly and efficiently, greatly enhancing
your business.
So, the truth is that SaaS is not making SOA irrelevant, it is in-
stead making SOA critical. Mid-market companies can make great
gains with new capabilities and functionality from extended soft-
ware deployment – either on-premise or SaaS. However, without
the integrated, enterprise-wide approach that SOA delivers, profits
and productivity gains will be left on the table – and who can af-
ford that?
A few years ago, Gartner predicted that by 2011, 25% of busi-
ness software will be delivered via Software-as-a-Service
(SaaS). While we have yet to see what impact the worldwide
economic recession will have on that timeframe, one thing re-
mains true – for mid-market companies taking an enterprise-wide
approach to their business operations, SaaS will be an important
delivery model. With such momentum in the SaaS market, has
service-oriented architecture (SOA) technology become obso-
lete, or will it?
Imagine you are a mid-market manufacturing company with an
on-premise ERP solution and the desire to expand your software
investment to include solutions for customer relationship man-
agement (CRM) and enterprise asset management (EAM).
Rather than host the solutions on-premise, you decide to take
advantage of SaaS offerings for their uptime, data backups, es-
crow and more. But you are not fully capitalizing on the benefits
of the software if the CRM, EAM and ERP solutions each oper-
ate in a vacuum.
There are different goals for SOA, below some fundamental
ones:
The adoption of a new architectural style where business
functions operate independently, are flexible and can be de-
ployed/upgraded without disruption
The introduction of a business management platform where
aggregated information for reporting, business intelligence and
decisions can be done
Centrally defined business processes with execution and
monitoring reflecting the deployment model (On-Premise vs.
SaaS)
Interoperability of solutions throughout the supply chain
Without SOA, each of your new applications would continue to
deliver their primary function but you have some
Shine 2009
The recently conducted event themed „Shine
2009 An Ovation of Excellence‟ was organized
by MSC Malaysia Capability Development
Achievement Event 2009. The event was to
celebrate the successes of 64 MSC Malaysia
Status companies that have earned global
standards certifications.
Global standards certifications are an invalu-
able means for Malaysian companies to prove their internal competencies to relevant par-
ties when competing in global markets. To assist MSC Malaysia Status companies to
achieve these certifications, MSC Malaysia Capability Development Programme (CDP)
offers 11 organizational development programmes and CDP Professional Development
with four focus areas of process, people, product and management.
It is with this partnership MSC Malaysia and budding companies that the spirit to strive for
professionalism, quality standards certifications and improvements can be achieved to-
wards optimum productivity and efficiency.
Ygl was proud to be one of the hundreds that have been invited to this exquisite event..

MSC Malaysia SCORE+ Programme - Rating
Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) runs a comprehensive sur-
vey on MSC Malaysia Status companies to track companies‟ development,
including Marketing, Financial Performance, Human Resource, Intellectual
Property and Key Challenges & Directions. This year, in lieu of the usual
Impact Surveys that MDec were conducted, the inaugural MSC Malaysia
SCORE+ Programme marks the step forward in MDeC‟s intelligence gath-
ering and changing our industry development outlook.
The MSC Malaysia SCORE+ Programme is a service offered by MDeC to
obtain accurate information and profiling of MSC Malaysia status compa-
nies. It will also aid in the understanding of the company‟s business, prod-
ucts, skill sets and aspirations.
Ygl is pleased to inform you that MDec has recently concluded the first
running of the MSC Malaysia SCORE+ Programme which started back in
January 2009 of which Ygl was part of. It is with great pleasure to inform
you that Ygl attained a high “SCORE+ Rating” among the MSC companies
in Malaysia.
As the MDeC CEO Datuk Badlisham Ghazali aptly stated, they are trans-
forming MSC Malaysia‟s strategic profile from a capacity-driven profile to a
market-driven one. It is with this drive that they look forward to improve and
enhance the relationship with MSC Malaysia Status Companies.
TAXcom Latest Breakthrough
Ygl TAXcom has done it again. Improving our services
and upgrading our software to give a boost to our cli-
ents during these challenging economic times.
This time around we have successfully upgraded our
new Capital Allowance Module for all our clients‟ advan-
tages.
With our user friendly wizard to add capital allowance
records, computing RA and ITA based on fixed assets in
the CA module is such a breeze. Even printing out the
list of assets claiming RA and ITA is so easy, just a few
clicks needed. The best part is Refined Capital Allow-
ance reports shows assets by CA rate, category and
year of purchase!
Now our New Hire Purchase Schedule Module can be
used to keep track on installment payment of assets un-
der Hire Purchase. These latest upgrades had been re-
leased to TAXcom users early this month.
Growing businesses depend on their IT environment to
provide high performances, availability and resiliency
based on client‟s demands.
Yet to stay competitive, companies must find an eco-
nomical way to simplify and efficiently manage evolving
technology requirements. Ygl has all the solutions to help
you do just that.
What other better ways to present these as an early
X‟Mas gift to our TAXcom clients.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Ygl !
WORKSHOP
Ygl OFFICE, KL
1st , 2nd & 4th DEC 2009 The recently conducted event, TAXcom Workshop was an over-
whelming success, crowded by participants. A full day event held
for two days, on the 1st and 2snd December 2009 at our very own
Ygl Office in Kuala Lumpur. With such amazing respond, we
extended the workshop further on the 4th of December 2009.
Ygl discussed on the most common issues and problem faced by
tax agents / payers and to update the participants on the latest
issues and event from LHDN and Budget 2010. The market de-
mands changes as time goes by. Ygl maintains close communi-
cations with the market, and always listens to the voices of its
customers in order to stay ahead of these changes and provide
timely improvements. Hence, changing from our normal oral
TAXcom seminars to a new and improved TAXcom Workshop,
where participants can actually hands-on the program itself with
the guidance from the consultants.
Responding to the needs for next generation of tax agents / pay-
ers, Ygl‟s TAXcom Software will strive further on to meet their
never-ending demands and transform Malaysia‟s Tax System
into a world-class system.
