PRAYING FOR THE NATIONS:

PRAISE  the  LORD!  The October month-long First-in-Prayer event--successfully covered the nations of the world in prayer!!! Thank you to all who picked a nation and prayed! Remember, we can continue to pray for our nation and all nations of the world that every person shall hear the Gospel and know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. A time of PRAISE & PRAYER

In celebration and thanksgiving for the greatest gift ever given, our LORD Jesus Christ, may our hearts be overflowing with gratitude to our KING this Christmas. We are a blessed people! As a small token of our appreciation (not that we can ever earn HIS love --- for salvation is a free gift to us) but how wonderful it is that we can offer ourselves anew to our LORD. Will you give the gift of yourself to Jesus this Christmas!!!

CORNERSTONE PRAYER TEAM

Spend a day with God! Now this could be a couple of special hours, the whole day or more! You can be alone with the LORD but also come together with family and friends for a time of corporate worship. What a wonderful way to spend a day with friends! How amazing for a family to honor the Lord in this way! So you won't forget the date you select, you can sign up on the bulletin board's day with God calendar -- making a commitment to spend that day with God. Also, the prayer team will pray for you before and on the day you have chosen. Here are some ideas to help you get started:

· Read scripture together. · Select a story in the Bible & act it out! · Walk in the park & continually praise our LORD for the beauty around us! · Study a passage of scripture apart; then come together & share what God has said to you. · Share your favorite verses & why. · Do an art project together (draw/sew/build: the Priest garment, lamp of the Tabernacle, the Cross) · Have a parade carrying the Ark of the Covenant. (Made from a cardboard box!) · Spend time in prayer, listening for God. · Spend time listening to & dancing to praise music! · Write little notes to God of what you are thankful for (send them out onto a lake on leaves!) · Look for the "V" for victory of Jesus Christ in nature (Geese fly in a "V", tree's trunk & branch form a "V" etc!) · Have a Birthday Party for Jesus. · Go to the park & lay twigs together in the shape of a cross along the side of the trail. · Be LOUD outside & say how much you LOVE JESUS into the wind! · Have a prayer walk around a school. · Make a scrapbook, painting, or journal entry of the faithfulness of our LORD. · Try to speak ONLY PRAISES for the day to our LORD!!!!! · Write encouraging notes to family members. · Make a list of all your worries, give them to the LORD; then tear them up & throw them away! · Pray over your children's Year Book at school for all the teachers & students. · Pray over the newspaper or magazine (articles etc) for people to be saved & for

God to do a mighty work.

Ask God before the Day to lead your time. The prayer team will be praying for you before and during your Day With God!

What are your New Year's Plans? Announcing a

New Year's Day PRAISE & Prayer Service.

What an awesome way to start the New Year! Saturday, January 1st, 4:00-5:00 pm in the sanctuary.

PRO-ACTIVE PRAYER

The First-in-Prayer event on Wednesday, December 1st will be easy for you to attend since you will already be here! Before or after (or during) the class night time you can visit the Commons Area and pray over all the Christmas events for the month of December. Will you pray for God to be glorified through all the events of the church? Will you pray for any unbelievers who attend any of the services and shows to hear the Gospel Message and be saved? Will you pray for God to bless and protect all those performing? Just stop by the tables in the Commons and pray as suggested and as the Holy Spirit leads.

On Friday November 5th, 131 students, chaperones and college students departed for Fort Caswell for our Annual Fall Retreat. The Retreat’s theme was, Soul Survivor - OUTLIVE, OUTPRAY, OUTSERVE. Once there students were divided into TRIBES and they competed in Survivor challenges and a Soul Survivor Ultimate Relay. On Saturday and Sunday mornings the Survivors were given TREE

MAIL which came straight from the Word of God. Throughout the weekend Survivors participated in four sessions of worship and teaching. At Saturday night’s session we saw at least 17 decisions for Christ. One particular decision was made by a high school senior who received a scholarship. Her decision was, as she put it, “I gave my life to Christ”. Prior to this retreat she did not go to Cornerstone. She is an athlete at Northwest High School and I see her practically every day while coaching football. I invited her to come to which she replied she could not afford it. Nevertheless, I gave her a scholarship. Because of the monies you give, lives are changing. This is only one of many decisions that were made. To God be the Glory!

understand why males behave the way they do. Even long-married women who think they understand men have only scratched the surface. Beneath a man’s rugged exterior is an even more rugged, unmapped terrain. What Shaunti Feldhahn’s research reveals about the inner lives of men will open women’s eyes to what the men in their life – boyfriends, brothers, husbands, and sons – are really thinking and feeling. This book will guide women in how to provide the loving support that modern men want and need.

The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns – Two thousand years ago, 12 people changed the world. Believing it can happen again, Stearns demonstrates what it means to actively live out your faith by sharing his own journey! Discover how this CEO chose to obey God – and found himself in Uganda.

STAFF PICKS Each month, the Library Corner column will feature a recommended list of personal favorite materials from one of our Cornerstone pastors and staff. Here are Cindy Hunter’s picks for December:

Choosing to See: A Journey of Struggle and Hope by Mary Beth Chapman – Grief is a journey many of us take at one time or another. For the Chapman family their journey began with the accidental death of their 5 year old daughter, Maria Sue, whom they adopted from China. In Choosing to See, Mary Beth Chapman shares her struggles with the tragic loss of Maria Sue, her journey to heal, and the unexpected path God has placed her on. Even as difficult as life can be, Mary Beth and the Chapmans choose to see with faith and hope. Forward by Steven Curtis Chapman.

For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn – What’s going on in a man’s mind? From their early days, every woman has struggled to

The ADVENTure of Christmas by Lisa Whelchel – Your kids know that Christmas means the birth of Jesus – and they want to celebrate. Join Lisa Welchel on a 24 day expedition to discover the Savior in the center of all things holiday – shopping, baking, decorating; and even the candy cane, the pear-tree partridge, the Santa suit, and the meaning of the mistletoe kiss.

Humphrey’s First Christmas by Carol Heyer – We have all heard the story of the three wise men, who brought their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus. But what about the camels who carried them? Here is the imaginative story of Humphrey the camel and his long, cold journey to Bethlehem. In addition to an engaging text and gorgeous, whimsical artwork, this story reminds readers of the importance of Christmas and the true meaning of gift-giving.
