This presentation was made possible with the great help of use-age organization and, specially, Teresa Colombi

Theodor Roosevelt

It’s not our resources that make us a great nation, but

how we use them

90% of information input is visual channel

Attention Economy

And we can build a model :)

Big Amounts of Data and growing

Attention is scarce resource

primary → secondary priority

Attention is disturbed, deteriorated

Attention = luxury

Attention Economy

Attention = €

wepay attention

We stop reading, just sliding through materials

News, becoming old by one day, are now obsolete in hours,

and just because we pay attention to “newer” news

Content is very important

Spiked growth of information causes

attention deficit.

Herbert Simon “Information Law”, 1971

Attention deficit

hurts the economic model of news sites, blogs, search engines, online

stores, web advertising

Attention deficit

It’s about history

Statement we need to show

{X} is [huge]

Fact that looks crazy

It is as [many] as [50x][stadiums] of [people]

Reinforce statement

and {X} is as [big] as [Jupiter]

Reinforce the statement with metaphor

If we imagine that {X} is …It will be …

Why to change through design?

The IT and data-driven revolution has made business more reliable, but it has also driven courage and intuition out of management.

Bridging design thinking with management science will create better leadership. Any attempt to drive innovation with design needs to acknowledge that there are many factors within the client organization that can affect the ability to deliver innovation.
