We live in a beautiful old town Pskov. It’s in the north-west of Russia, not far from Saint-Petersburg.If you drive a bit you can come to the boarder of Estonia or Latvia.

Pskov has its emblem and anthem. On the emblem you can see a leopard. It is a symbol of strength and bravery of the city. Pskov took part in many battles and wars.

Our city has a great history. The name of Pskov was first written in the Chronicles in 903 AD.And during the time many famous people lived and worked in Pskov.It all started with Princess Olga: she said to build the city.Another famous ruler of the city was Alexander Nevsky.

Many rulers of the country came to Pskov:• Ivan IV• Peter the Great• Nikolas II• Vladimir Leninand of course scientists, writers, poets, artists and musicians.

For the Tourists:If you come to Pskov you need to know about the weather.

In Autumn the weather is dull, windy and rainy. But it can be sunny in September. You need to have gloves, coat, raincoat, boots, sweaters and of course an umbrella.

In winter the weather is windy, rainy and snowy. It can also be frosty and icy. You need to have warm gloves, jacket, boots, sweaters and hats.

In spring it can be rainy and wet. But it is also sunny and warm in May. So you need coats gloves, boots, trousers and sweaters for March and April. And in May you can wear T-shirts, skirts, shorts and sandals.

In summer it’s usually warm and sunny. But it can rain, too. So take your swimming-suits, sandals, dresses, shorts, T-shirts and don’t forget the sunglasses.

We have a lot of beautiful places to visit:

Churches:In our city there are more than 60 churches and most of them are more than 10 centuries old.

Cathedrals:The main cathedral in our city is the Trinity Cathedral. It is the symbol of Pskov. It is the 3rd building – at first they were wooden but burned.It has 5 domes and it is beautifully decorated inside.

You can also visit museums.The main historical ones are Pogankin Chambers and Prikaznye Chambers. There you can see how people in Pskov lived before.

If you want to have fun you can go to the cinema. We have 2 cinemas in Pskov. They are Pobeda and Oktyabr. There you can see different films and cartoons, even in 3D.

If you want to see a play you can go to the theater. We have two of them – Pushkin theatre and Concert Hall. And they give wonderful performances and concerts. Even actors and singers from Moscow and Saint-Petersburg come to our city.

When you get hungry, you can eat in many different cafes and restaurants. You can find food of many countries there: typically Russian (Dvor Podznoeva), Italian (My Italy, Rozario), Japanese (Vasabi, Tokio) and Ukranian (Dikanka).

And if you look for interesting activities – we have many festivals. We celebrate public holidays and our own ones, like:• Pushkin festival• Day of the city• Maslenitza and many others.
