My Goals To give your child the academic and

social skills needed to progress to third grade.

To provide a supportive, nurturing and fun classroom environment.

To help them make new friends and discover new interests.

Homework Homework will be stored in the “hub” folder Newsletter with the week’s assignment’s will

be emailed the Friday in advance. Tuesday folders are still digital this year.

The “Hub” The Hub will be our purple

daily folder. In it you will find the

homework for the week, behavior calendar for the month and the spelling menu.

Students MUST bring this to and from school each day so behavior can be recorded daily and reviewed by you each night.

Behavior Calendar Calendar will be stamped with bingo markers daily:

E = green S = yellow N = orange U = red

Orange can result in a loss of extra recess and a written consequence (essay, apology letter, etc).

Red will result in a parent phone call and/or email to discuss how the child earned red and what can happen in the future to avoid it.

Classroom Bingo – reward system

Reading Weekly tests covering spelling, vocabulary and

comprehension/application of the weekly reading strategy.

Book Shares – at home project. 2 per nine weeks. Kids choose their own book Log their reading Create a product and present it for the class. First Book Share project will be done IN CLASS so

students can get used to the process

Math New math curriculum

Hands on – manipulatives Discovering and creating math concepts,

not just memorization

Interactive notebook Online quizzes and tests

School hours Students will go to the gym when they arrive to

school in the morning

Children will be released to the classroom at 8:00am

Please call the attendance office if your child is going to be absent.

School ends at 3:15 P.M. each day.
