This term the school council will be
focusing on charities. We helped prepare
for the Harvest Festival assembly and will
be supporting Children in Need and
Remembrance Day by selling Pudsey
merchandise and poppies in school.
Whilst it is impossible to capture everything,
I hope this edition of the Acorn Newsletter
gives you some insight into the rich half term
of learning we have all had together.
I am sure that you will join me in both
congratulating and welcoming Mr Garwood
and Ms Holbrough as new Parent Governors.
Equally, I am delighted with the appointment
of Mr Paul Seeman as our new Headteacher
from January 2020. I shall continue to work
closely with Mr Seeman after half term to
ensure as smooth a transition as possible in
to the New Year.
May I wish you all the best of half terms and
I look forward to welcoming everyone back
on Monday 28th October.
Yours sincerely, Mr Page.
The table below shows the percentage of pupils in each class with 100% attendance.
Attendance for this half term has been amazing. It continues to be monitored by Mrs Kim Gill, our school attendance officer, and our Education Welfare Officer. Well done to all those children with 100% attendance so far.
Swifts 86.2% Goldfinches 77.2% Eagles 74.0% Songthrushes 66.6% Wagtails 62.9% Swallows 61.2% Kingfishers 58.6% Songthrushes 70.0% Owls 70.0%

We will be running a book fair on Monday 4th
to Thursday 7th November from 3.15pm to 3.45pm. Please remember to visit!
The Science Week was full of exciting experiments which
made the Wrens wonder and question why things react the way they do. From dancing raisins to
travelling water and exploding coke.
What fun!
The Skylarks decided that
Science Week was our most
exciting learning experience.
We really enjoyed making
bread, lava lamps and
meeting Professor Nitrate.
The Goldfinches
enjoyed learning about toys
throughout history and investigating
Goldilocks’ crime scene.
The Blackbirds have been fascinated to
see their salt crystals grow as part of Science Week.
Each day the salt becomes more like barnacles growing
on a rope.
Seeing the Owls’ shocked faces
during Science Week when the “Scientist”
exploded onto the premises!
In the Swallows class we enjoyed using drama to
learn about the Stone Age and also biblical stories
about Jesus. We have also enjoyed playing matball!
Seeing the awe
and wonder on the
Robins’ faces when
watching Professor
Silly Billy.
This set off our
amazing
Science
Week
The Swifts enjoyed
learning about the Stone Age
with cave painting, an
Archaeological dig and going back in time with their
Story Island Drama
The Eagles took a journey as a
pebble using our imagination and
being creative
with our ideas
The Wagtails’ favourite moment
was when Croc the Crocodile
came to help us with our maths!
The Kingfishers and
Greenfinches have settled into
their first term at school so
well. We have enjoyed a range
of fantastic activities and
amazing experiences. We have
made so many new friends too!
The Songthrushes have loved making lava lamps in Science Week. They have also enjoyed
writing their Stone Age stories and learning about
Christianity in RE.
We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 28th October, with
the Autumn Term finishing on Thursday 19th December. Have a lovely half term break.
The attached photos show our teams who competed in the Year 6 Tag rugby tournament at Lowestoft Rugby Club. The focus was on “respect” and we showed a great positive attitude to all the other schools and were excellent ambassadors for our school.
We hosted our annual cross country tournament at Worlingham CEVC Primary on 27th September. This was a great success and we deservedly finished second. Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who supported this event. The Year 3 teams enjoyed their matball tournament at Sir John Leman High School, with one of the teams finishing in a fantastic second place. The Year 6 Quick Sticks Hockey team also participated in a tournament at East Point Academy in which they finished as semi-finalists.
During week beginning 7th October, we held a whole-school Science week with a theme of Chemistry. The week was launched with some exciting chemical reactions in Monday's assembly and ended with each Key Stage sharing their learning from the week on Friday afternoon. We also had a v isit from Professor Nitrate, who made the week more 'explosive' with some amazing chemical reactions! Chemistry week was thoroughly enjoyed by all children and was a huge success throughout the school! Miss Stevenson would like to thank all staff for their hard work and input during the week.
