Overview Aim of the class is to cover as many

methods of “Producing Media” as possible that pertain to the 21st century.

The world has changed… The average person can now reach an attentive audience of millions:› “A Year in 40 Seconds”› “Cooking up a Story”

Units for This Semester Video Newsmagazine. Independent Film Making Sound Recording Comic Life- Digital Comics and Novellas Digital SLR- Photography Safety Productions

Video Newsmagazine Biweekly, in a “Nightly News” format. 3-4 regular topics shown each week:

› News headlines› Sports news› School interview› Closing Credits and funny

Production team of 3-4 students, responsible for all facets of production.

Shown to school during SSR or in Commons.

Independent Film Making Individualized film making projects of

the student’s choice. Chance for the student to be creative,

make statements, pursue interests, etc.

May be used as contributing pieces in Newsmagazine or in Sound Recording.

Sound Recording Recording audio or video, capable of

being used for presentation on the World Wide Web or iTunes in the form of a podcast.

Use of Audacity and Sound Forge for sound recording, special effects and mixing.

Comic Life Fun, easy to use program on the Mac.

Takes standard photos and “comics” them, along with comic book frames, talk bubbles, etc.

Yet another way to produce media for a wide audience.
