History•The Latinos of Tomorrow was developed by Crystal Perez, a Wyandotte High School Student, as her KCBizFest Workshop project in 2004.

•Over a hundred current members around the Kansas City metropolitan area.

MISSION

The mission of the Latinos of Tomorrow is to provide leadership learning opportunities in education advancement, career development and civic involvement through programs or projects.

VISIONTo empower the voice of the student members through supportive and educational campaigns; through either existing events, chamber events and internally driven events.

SPONSORSHIPThe Latinos of Tomorrow is one of several student programs offered by the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Collaborative and sponsored by Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City.

Latinos of Tomorrow is free and open to any High School through College student from the Kansas City Metro Area.

Objective• Objective is to learn through

peer-to-peer and adult-to-student mentoring and advising.

• Latinos of Tomorrow is a natural progression from KC BizFest. By joining LOT’s, KC BizFest participants can continue developing and pursuing their professional, career, and educational goals.

ProjectsProject opportunities are developed by the teams or

through existing projects in our community using the project management structure. Some of our projects include:

• KCBizFest• KCBizFest LOT members serve as mentors to incoming KCBizFest Participants• LOT members present at KCBizFest

– Scholarship Fest• Parent/Student session-Post secondary Education• Student enrollment into Fastweb.com, Schoalrships.com• Peer-peer mentoring. LOT members aid students in the enrollment

process. • Students receive a packet with scholarship information.• 2010 Scholarship Fest will be held March 27.

• Essay Workshop• Students get help on essay writing techniques.• Students can bring in essays for editing, or start

one at the workshop• 2011 Essay Workshops will be coming this Spring

and Summer.

• KC Fiesta• KCFiesta LOT members organize & hold fundraiser during event• KCFiesta LOT members serve as volunteers
