distributed either in our boutiques or by our partners.
Today, I am thus writing my 60th edito for you, and I am proud of two things. I have noticed that many of you have collected all the issues since N°1… And I can see just how successful the magazine has become from other readers’ impatience before each new issue comes out !
Don’t be mistaken, the work accomplished, every two months, is colossal. Texts, page layout, follow-up of printing and lots of photo shoots are handled solely by the Kronometry 1999 communication team and myself, and this, right from the start. An enterprise within an enterprise…
For this 60th edition, we have decided to present the quintessence of Kronometry 1999 expertise. You will mainly, therefore, only find pieces of «Haute Horlogerie» or extremely rare masterpieces. Some have been photographed specially for this issue by our accredited photographer, Jean Michel Sordello, who, for the occasion, takes a glance at previous editions. The «staging» of each photo celebrates this 60th issue. Some pieces have, in fact, been jealously hidden in our safes for several weeks to be brought out for this edition.
This rather special issue is coming out in the midst of a busy period for Kronometry 1999. After a Cannes Film Festival in which we were highly visible with Hublot, we are getting underway for summer with a different exhibition every three weeks in Cannes and Monaco. Among others, Richard Mille, Vacheron Constantin and Montblanc will be on display in our boutiques on the Côte d’Azur so that you can discover their latest creations. Paris will soon be celebrating its new Zenith spot, while in London Richard Mille watches have already taken their places in the showcases !
It is thus with real pride that I invite you to discover this 60th issue of K News.
Enjoy your reading !
Walter RonchettiPresident & Founder of Kronometry 1999
Bonne lecture !

In December 1999, six months after the opening of the first Kronometry 1999boutique, the first K News made its appearance !The concept was simple : to produce a magazine of quality, easy to read and focusing on essentials : your passion for watches.
Over 12 years later, we are publishing the 60th edition of a magazine which has become an absolute must, and for good reason. présentes au 4 la Croisette dès cet été.

summer.
After the success chalked up by Zenith in the other
stores, we are really looking forward to this superb
new development !
Exclusively Delaneau
London, Paris, Cannes and Monaco will be the happy
few elected to represent this brand so exclusive that
each piece, entirely decorated by hand, is unique.
A fine approach on the part of the manufacturer…
In the spirit of Kronometry 1999 !
Nikki Beach
On the strength of our partnership with Hublot and
Nikki Beach, we are this year opening an ephemeral
Hublot boutique right in the midst of the famous
beach. After ten days spent in Cannes during the
Film Festival, the beach-restaurant and our Hublot
boutique have taken up their quarters for the entire
season in Saint-Tropez !!
Exhibitions

for Kronometry 1999. After the one dedicated

Cannes, it’s the turn of Vacheron Constantin to take
over our boutique on the Croisette from July 9th to

Tourbillon Chronographe RM 008Le Mans Classic 2012
Tourbillon Chronograph RM 008Le Mans Classic 2012
The next edition of the Le Mans Classic will be held from
July 6th to 8th, 2012. Richard Mille will, of course, keep its
appointment as Principal Partner and Official Timekeeper of
this competition which has become one of the world’s finest
events for collectors’ cars. On this occasion, the brand will
unveil its RM 008 LMC.
For this 6th edition of the Le Mans Classic, Richard Mille
has decided to come up with a tourbillon split-seconds
chronograph. This timepiece celebrates racing in the purest
Le Mans Classic style. In homage to this unique race - a
retrospective of the Le Mans 24 Hours -, the chronograph’s
minutes and seconds counter indicated by the tourbillon,
as well as the torque and functions indicators, thus adopt
the traditional blue and yellow colours of the rumble strips
around the 24-Hour track. Another reference to this historic
race is the Le Mans Classic logo placed at 12 o’clock on
the dial. The microblasted grade 5 titanium case has a
DLC-coated caseband.
Limited edition of two pieces in titanium.
Handwound tourbillon movement with 70-hour power reserve.
Fonction chronographe flyback. Edition limitée à 150 exemplaires.
Also exists in RM011 version :Self-winding mechanical movement. Flyback chronograph function.Limited edition of 150 pieces.

Aerobang Kronometry 1999
Kronometry 1999 Aerobang
2012 will not escape the tradition ! Hublot and Kronometry are again
working together to produce their limited edition !
To follow the trend for 2012, the colour orange is being given a place
of honour and, after last year’s Big Bang model, the Carbon Aerobang
version has been selected for this year.
Its case is entirely made of carbon, just like the open-worked dial which
reveals the self-winding mechanical chronograph movement. The date is
displayed at 5 o’clock and the crocodile strap is overstitched in orange,
the colour also used for the hands and hour markers.
Like its predecessors, this series will bear an engraved «K1999» on the
caseback and will this year be produced in a limited series of 30 pieces.

MP01 – Masterpiece Tourbillon in Titanium
It took no less than 30 watch-makers entirely dedicated to
sophisticated complications to design, develop and manufacture the
MP-01 Masterpiece, the very fi rst barrel-shaped watch from Hublot.
Made entirely of titanium, the curved case houses a monopusher
chronograph movement with column-wheel, also barrel-shaped and
curved to echo the design.
This outstanding calibre offers a 10-day power reserve thanks to three
barrels which work in series. It is indicated on the back of the watch.
The dial has been expertly open-worked allowing for the chronograph
mechanics to be admired. Another feature is that the hour-markers
extend beyond the titanium bezel. A «metallic grille» in aluminium set
on the perimeter of the bezel completes the Masterpiece’s assertively
dynamic and aristocratic design.
True to its tradition, Kronometry 1999 has reserved an exceptional
number for you : N°00/10.
Limited edition of 10 numbered pieces.
MP01 – Master Piece Tourbillon Titane

King Power «Cathedral» Minute Repeater
Hublot presents a timepiece with a sophisticated mechanism whose main
feature is to propose three major complications of «Haute Horlogerie»
visible on the dial side, including a fl ying tourbillon with a suspended
cage at 6 o’clock. In addition to carbon fi bre, the 48-mm case is made
of materials such as titanium and rubber. From a design point of view,
the minute-repeater push-button is incorporated into the King Power
case, just as the chronograph trigger is integrated into the watch’s
crown. Activated by means of a lever between 8 and 10 o’clock, the
minute repeater chimes the hours, quarter-hours and minutes. Its two
cathedral-like chimes are twice as long as that of a normal chime. All
proposed in a very sober style for a model of this sophistication. The hours
and minutes are indicated in the centre, giving a conventional reading.
Handwound mechanical movement with chronograph, tourbillon and
minute repeater functions and 120-hour power reserve.
Water-resistant to 30 m.

Nautical RegulatorVilleret 1858 Collection
Each set of Montblanc’s new Nautical Regulator ensemble is comprised
of a chronograph wristwatch and a nautical regulator which also offers a
universal time function.
The chronograph offers an unusual dial with eight different indications on
over 6 different levels giving the time in the place of residence and local time,
a day/night indicator, chronograph displays with 30-minute counter, small
second and a combined indication of the power reserve and winding zones.
This high complication mechanism is contained in an 18-carat white gold
case 43.5 mm in diameter.
The marine regulator which accompanies the watch is 56 cm in diametre,
93 cm tall, and weighs 120 kg. It is comprised of a base made of granite,
brass, solid aluminium and carbon fibre. Its dial is big enough to display three
time zones : those of the port of departure, port of destination, and local time.
As for the chronograph, the combined indication of the power reserve and
winding zones recalls the need to rewind the mechanism, a task which only
needs to be done every two weeks.
The set will be produced in a limited edition of 16 pieces – eight with a
chronograph in red gold, eight with a chronograph in white gold.

«Royal Oak 40 YEARS… From Avant-garde to Icon»
After New York and Milan, the exhibition/special event dedicated to the
40th anniversary of the Royal Oak, the iconic watch from the Manufacture
Audemars Piguet, is being staged in the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
The opening night on Tuesday, June 5th, was attended by over 700 guests
who accepted the invitation extended by Jasmin Audemars, President of
the Board of Directors.
This is the first time that the Manufacture of Le Brassus has assembled
over 100 iconic pieces from the Royal Oak collection to trace the history
of the first de-luxe sports watch in stainless steel. This legendary model
could not have dreamt up a finer setting than that designed to celebrate its
anniversary. The decor for the exhibition not only sets off the expertise and
know-how of Audemars Piguet, but also the audacity and modernity of a
watch which completely overturned the codes of «Haute Horlogerie» forty
years ago. The exhibit’s original scenography blending architecture, video,
photography and sound is signed by artists Sébastien Léon Agneessens,
Quayola and Dan Holdsworth.
In addition to the models on display, the exhibition offers the opportunity
of admiring a «guilloché» machine used to make the immediately
recognizable dials of the Royal Oak collection with the «tapisserie» motif.
After Paris, the next stage in the Royal Oak 40 Years exhibition will be
Beijing, at the end of August.
« Royal Oak 40 YEARS…
y a maintenant quarante ans.

Royal Oak Extra-Thin SkeletonTo celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first prestige sports watch in stainless steel, the 2012 Royal Oak Extra-Slim Skeleton model naturally conforms to the identity codes of the Manufacture of Le Brassus. They include in particular the octagonal bezel with its eight hexagonal screws, still made of white gold. Though it’s also to its case, entirely integrated into a «cascading» bracelet, ie. in decreasing width, that the Royal Oak owes its reputation. All signature themes proper to the collection since it came into being and which are still featured on all current models. Its 39-mm platinum case houses a fully skeletonized self-winding mechanical movement, revealed by an open-worked slate dial. Its size is identical to that of the Royal Oak of 1972, a time when it was considered excessive. Engraved and numbered, this model is available in a limited edition of 40 pieces. It is a fine expression of the evolution which has transformed an avant-garde watch into an iconic model.Water-resistant to 50 m.
Royal Oak Extra-Thin Skeleton TourbillonMade of platinum, this model offers a case 41 mm in diametre, a size
never before seen in the Royal Oak collection. It contains a new extra-
thin handwound tourbillon movement, entirely designed and produced
by the Manufacture. This version renews the genre by revealing its
depth thanks to the anthracite treatment of the workings and balance
wheel, contrasting with the grey of the different steels, the yellow gold
of the barrel and the dial in open-worked slate, set off by hour-markers
and hands in grey gold with a luminescent coating.

Radiomir California 3 Days – 47 mmThe Radiomir is getting a second lease of life thanks to the new Radiomir California 3 Days and Radiomir S.L.C. 3 Days, two models paying tribute to the history of Offi cine Panerai and the timepiece which was a decisive turning-point in the history of watchmaking for professional divers.Several features borrow inspiration from the prototype designed in 1936 for divers in the Royal Italian Navy, such as the 47-mm cushion case in steel, the conical crown and black dial, simple and sober to provide maximum legibility even in very poor light. Forming part of the Historic Collection, these two models stand out for the design of their dials. The Radiomir California 3 Days is distinguished by its combination of luminescent hour markers, Roman numerals and Arabic numbers. The design of the dial features the OP logo, a date window at 3 o’clock and the inscription “CALIFORNIA“ engraved on the fl ange at 12 o’clock.
Radiomir S.L.C. 3 Days – 47 mmThe Radiomir S.L.C. 3 Days offers a very minimalist new version of the dial with alternating bar and dot-shaped hour markers. This version was probably designed in the late 1930’s to experiment with the «sandwich» structure of the dial, in which two plates are superimposed, the lower one covered with a coat of luminescent material, the upper one open-worked to show the markers. The watch’s name is a reference to the slow-speed torpedo («Silura a Lenta Corsa» in Italian, S.L.C.), on which the commandos of the Royal Italian Navy rode during their heroic underwater missions. A torpedo stands out in relief on the dial and the inscription “S.L.C.“ is engraved on the fl ange at 12 o’clock.Handwound mechanical movement with 3-day power reserve.Water-resistant to 100 m.

Ti-Bridge Tourbillon Serti
Corum presented the first version of its Ti-Bridge watch in 2009.
The 2010 version was characterized by the introduction of a flying
tourbillon and titanium case. In 2011, the Ti-Bridge tourbillon
flirted with high-end jewellery watches, adorning itself with
689 diamonds for a total 8.64 carats ! Which certainly set off the
baguette movement which, held by distance pieces, seems to
be weightless in the centre of a barrel-shaped case of generous
dimensions in red or white 18-carat gold. An effect further
accentuated by the flying tourbillon which, deprived of an upper
bridge, appears to levitate above the movement.

Titanic 100th Anniversary

Titanic 100th Anniversary
A century after it was built, the «Titanic» still embodies one of the most
amazing challenges ever taken up by Man.
On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, Romain Jerome pays homage to
this giant of the seas which inspired its very first collection by producing
two special limited editions : the Steampunk Auto 100th Anniversary and
Steampunk Chrono 100th Anniversary.
Housed in cases 50 mm in diametre and offering raw, rugged finishes, the
Steampunks in the Titanic-DNA collection reflect the ship’s impressive
power. They both feature a bezel in oxidized and stabilized steel, obtained
from the fusion of metal from the legendary wreck lying 3,840 metres
beneath the sea with that provided by the Harland & Wolf shipyards where
the «Titanic» was built.
For this anniversary edition, the mobile propellers which appear on the
Steampunk dial, recalling those of the ship, have been treated in the
same way as that used for the bezels. A medallion commemorating the
launch date of the Titan of the seas is engraved on the casebacks of these
timepieces, available in limited editions of 100 pieces each.

Liberty
On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, RJ-Romain Jerome has unveiled a new timepiece which merges its DNA with that of Miss Liberty, thus creating a new symbolic legend : Liberty-DNA.A gift donated by France to the United States to celebrate the centenary of its Declaration of Independence, this work by French artist Bartholdi, inaugurated in 1886 and bearing a name destined to go down in history, «Liberty lighting up the world», was to become, over the years, a symbol of human rights. For many decades, this victorious silhouette surveying the Bay of New York was the first image for millions of immigrants of their American Dream and the embodiment of all their hopes.True to the esthetics of the Statue of Liberty, the bronze bezel of this timepiece in a limited edition of 125 pieces has 12 spikes recalling the statue’s famous crown. With time, it will take on a patina, thus adopting the colour of the original work. The Lady’s precious DNA is contained in the dial. Particles of Miss Liberty have in fact been incorporated into the dial whose greyish-green colour is reminiscent of that of oxidized copper. The facetted hands are bronze-coloured and a vintage alligator strap completes the model. On the medallion on the back of this 46-mm watch, the flame of liberty illuminates the star-spangled US banner.Romain Jerome here pays homage to the most symbolic of all figures of liberty. By placing its watchmaking expertise at the service of Lady Liberty, it positions itself as a witness to history and sees that liberty will continue to enlighten future generations.Self-winding mechanical movement. 42-hour power reserve.Water-resistant to 30 m.
Liberty
Sonata Streamline
The new Sonata Streamline offers design inspired by the esthetics and aerodynamics of super-yachts. Its streamlined 44-mm case made of titanium and 18-carat rose gold is also proposed with ceramic elements and offers two versions of the dial. A mechanical instrument, the Sonata Streamline beats to the rhythm of a patented self-winding calibre, the result of seven years of development. Always at the spearhead when it comes to exploring of new materials, Ulysse Nardin has relied on the expertise of its subsidiary, Sigatec, to produce all the components in silicium. The movement combines a rotor in 22-carat gold and an anchor escapement in silicium. The watch is also endowed with remarkable functions : the alarm chime is set by means of a counter indicating hours and minutes, placed at 2 o’clock. Above the 10 o’clock marker, a countdown indicator with 24-hour display allows the wearer to set the alarm 24 hours ahead of time. To avoid any confusion, the time remaining before the chime is triggered is indicated on a 24-hour scale. A hand at 9 o’clock indicates whether the alarm is activated or not. The Sonata Streamline also features a second time zone with instantaneous adjustment, whose functions over 24 hours are shown on a counter at 6 o’clock. With this patented system, the time zone can be adjusted by means of a simple press of the push-buttons.Self-winding mechanical movement. Water-resistant to 50 m.
Sonata Streamline

H1
The H1 is the first hybrid mechanical-fluid watch produced by the HYT research centres.Embodying the brand’s identity, it is an encounter between sophisticated watchmaking and hydro-mechanics. A totally new approach to telling the time with water in a handwound mechanical wristwatch. The main challenge consisted of finding an interface between the mechanical movement and the hydro system within a closed waterproof circuit. Modular integration which led to other constraints such as installing the dial in two parts, through the sides, with everything contained in an impressively light titanium case 48.8 mm in diameter. The upper part of the watch is comprised of a minute regulator in the centre, overlapped by a small second at 9.30, and a 65-hour power reserve at 2.30 which indicates the remaining energy available across three arcs of a circle.Timekeeping results from the activation of two reservoirs placed beneath a dome at 6 o’clock and attached to each end of a capillary. A mechanical movement housed in the upper part of the watch propels a cam which pushes the piston and activates two bellows. While the first reservoir compresses, the second expands, and vice versa, thus making the liquid move in the capillary. One contains an aqueous liquid filled with fluorescein, the other a transparent viscous liquid. The force of repulsion of the molecules in each liquid keeps them separate, and a halfmoon-shaped meniscus marks the boundary between the two to show the time. At 6 o’clock, the liquid comes back to its initial position in a gentle backward movement. The summum of art and science…Available in three versions : titanium, black DLC-coated titanium and 18-carat rose gold.
A new watchmaking art has come into being, and Kronometry 1999, always a precursor, is proud to propose it.

«La symbolique des laques»
Since 2011, Vacheron Constantin has linked its name with the «Journées des Métiers d’Art», an annual event dedicated to promoting and passing on the culture of over 200 types of craftsmanship, some of which are centuries old.The series entitled «Métiers d’Art - La Symbolique des Laques» («Symbolism of Lacquers») has been spread over three years, each one giving birth to a new set of three watches in limited editions of 20 pieces. This is the third and final set of a series of exceptional timepieces using the most sophisticated technique of the fine art of lacquering : «maki-e», meaning «strewn image». The motif is created by delicately scattering silver or gold dust on lacquer which is still damp and usually black. The double dials in 18-carat gold are thus covered in Japanese lacquer and housed in 40-mm cases in 18-carat white and rose gold.Handwound mechanical extra-thin skeleton movement. 30-hour power reserve. Water-resistant to 30 m.

Recital 8
Launched in 2007, the DIMIER Collection, characterized by the four horns
on its case and positioning of the crown at 3 o’clock, has this year been
enriched by an 8th Recital.
Preciously housed in a 48-mm case in 18-carat red or grey gold, the
tourbillon movement is the result of exclusive development which led
the watchmakers to opt for architecture based on two 3/4 plates. Though
very demanding, this type of construction typical of the 19th century
ensures rigidity and mechanical uniformity. It also liberates more space
for the regulating mechanism. The diametre of the carriage has thus
been increased to 13.5 mm. This exceptional timepiece displays the time
in two time zones simultaneously. Furthermore, indication of the second
time zone is complemented by a day/night indicator and, above all, a disc
showing the cities indexed to all 24 existing time zones.
Naturally enough, the decoration and fi nish of the movement have left no
room for compromise. Mother-of-pearl dials contrast harmoniously with
circular «Côtes de Genève» in anthracite ou rhodium-plated, depending
on the gold used for the case. As for the tourbillon cage, it seems to be
literally suspended in space from the bridge that carries it.
Handwound tourbillon movement with 7-day power reserve.
Recital 8
selon l’or du boîtier.
