While power generation is receiving continuous boost from time to time, power transmission is efficiently managed by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited.
Kolar has a solar power unit with a capacity of 3 MW in Yelasandra. This is the biggest solar power unit in India.
POWER
The only seasonal river in the district is Palar which flows across Kolar district.
The ground water level has dropped to alarming proportions that immediate measures are required to restore water table. This can be done by connecting network of tanks in Palar basin
Desalting, Contour bunding, check dams are also planned to improve the water tableWATER
Kolar has 3539 primary schools, 266 High schools & 73 Pre-university colleges.
In higher education segment, the district has 8 general colleges, 1 medical college, 1 engineering college, 1 dental college and 9 polytechnics.
The district has 180 libraries.
