1. Background
• JICA’s support to Health Sector in Cambodia has been started since 1990s.
• The support has focused on 4 main priority areas:
(a)-Maternal and Child Health
(b)-Medical Equipment Management, Health infrastructure and Facilities
(c)-Human Resource Development
(d)-Communicable Disease focuses on TB Control

The Project for Strengthening Medical Equipment Management in Referral Hospitals
(MEDEM2 Project) (TC)
Overall goal: Cambodia ME management system is institutionalized and it is also expanded to non-target CPA2.
Purpose: Cambodia ME management system is established and NWT, the target CPA/NH and CPA2 implement ME management activities in cooperation.
Target: 4 NHs , 18 CPA3 and selected CPA2
Period: Nov 2009- Nov 2014 (5 years)

The Project for Improving the Capacity of the National TB Control Program through
Implementation of the 2nd National Prevalence Survey (TC)
Overall goal: TB morbidity and mortality are
reduced.
Purpose: Capacity of National TB Control Program is strengthened through implementation of the
National TB Prevalence Survey.
Target: NTP Nationwide
Period: Jan 2010-Nov 2012 ( 3 Years)

The Project for Improving Maternal and Newborn care through Midwifery Capacity
Development (TC)
Overall goal: The utilization and access of maternal and newborn care by midwives is increased.
Purpose: The midwifery system is strengthened for enabling provision of midwifery services with evidenced-based quality care.
Target: National (Kg Cham, Kg Thom ,Prey Veng , Svay Rieng provinces as model region )
Period: March 2010-February 2015 (5 years)

The Project for Strengthening Health Human Resource Development System on Co-medicals
(TC)
Overall goal: Quality co-medicals are produced through the human resource development system.
Purpose: The educational basis of quality co-medicals is produced by enhancement of Department of Human Resources Development Management Capacity.
Target: HRDD , MoH
Period: May 2010-April 2015 (5 years)

Project for Rehabilitation of Sihanouk Ville Referral Hospital (GA)
Objective: To improve the quality of health services in SHV-RH which is the top referral hospital in Preah Sihanouk province, by renovating facilities and procuring medical equipment .
Target: SHV Referral Hospital , Preah Sihanouk Province
Period: 2013-2015 ????Type of equipment : Building and medical equipment

Project for Improvement of ME in National, Municipal , and Provincial
Referral Hospital (GA)Objective: To provide medical equipment for the national, municipal , and provincial hospitals in Cambodia by identifying adequate equipment specifications and allocations for better public health services in the country.
Target: 4 NHs and 17 CPA3 RHs
Period: 2011- 2012

Project for child Health Promotion in Svay Antor Operational District (JPP)
Overall goal: Health condition of children under five years old in the coverage area improved through collaboration between area improved through collaboration Health Center and Community.
Purpose: Community-based health promotion program for children under 5 years old (including Integrated Growth Monitoring , Health Education and Mother Support Group Activities) is established.
Target: 5 HC in Svay Antor OD, Prey Veng Province
Period: Mar 2011-Sep 2015
Partner: Services for the Health in Asian &African Regions (SHARE) , Japanese NGO

Popularization and Penetration of Oral Health Promotion in Mondulkiri (JPP)
Overall goal: Preventable dental/oral diseases are decreased in the targeted area.
Purpose: Dental/Oral Health Plan is planned and implemented by Mondulkiri PHD.
Target: PHD, PEO (Mondulkiri Province)

The Function of NMCHC in taking the primary role in Maternal and
Child Health in Cambodia is strengthened.
Medical Equipment Management Capacity and System are
developed.
Improvement of HEDThe system for improving the
quality of co-medical education is developed.
Improvement of CD focused on TB Control
National TB Control Program is strengthened.
.Development of Basic Health system[ Institution-building ].Through strengthening function of C/P institutions, skill and knowledge are acquired for implementation of activities/programs with independent-efforts on the following basic areas for health sector.[Sustainability]
