BRIEF HISTORY

She was brought up and get earlier education in Hong Kong. Her father was a banker. She started her 1st job after completing her college education. After college, she got a job and worked in Hong Kong for several years,

eventually moving to a regional-level role for a “major media firm”.

Her father retired and decided to come back to Pakistan in middle of 90’s.

Ara’s work and exposure to new media prompted her to start a multimedia company shortly after her return to Pakistan, in partnership with a friend. 

She got herself in connection with IBM to exceed in her idea. Due to limitations of the availability of internet and being costly, many

companions rejected the proposal.

PASHA

 Ara also decided to join the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), as she believed it was necessary to be part of the association representing the space in which her company was trying to establish itself.

In 2001 she become president of PASHA.  She was motivated by a belief that the sector could dramatically

reshape Pakistan’s economy by providing value-added services and jobs. She quite from her own company in 2007.

THE NEST I/O

 “Initially we started hosting events such as the startup insider series, Launchpad series, and the social innovation fund,” 

The concept for the future birth of PASHA’s own technology incubator, The Nest I/O, was now agreed upon in principle by all

members of the board. Google and Samsung provide funds for it.

BEING SOCIALIST

Being a socialist, spreading awareness regarding freedom of the internet, Ara has launched a campaign titled as ‘Bolo Bhi’.

CYBER CRIME

Cyber Crime, Privacy and Data Protection legislation are some of the things she is advocating for.

She is also working to control violence against the rights of women through her campaign “Freedom of Internet” by providing e-education via internet.

INVITED BY BARAQ HUSSAIN OBAMA

With her professional success and recognition, Ara has been invited by the President of US, Barrack Obama to attend and speak at the 7th annual Entrepreneurship Summit as a panelist that will be held from June 23rd to 24th.

According to the reports, Ara will be emphasizing her notes on the topic ‘Investing in South Asia: What’s next for Entrepreneurship in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.’

HER AIM

Her aim to discuss these topics amongst the masses is that she wants to make the the foreign investors understand the Pakistani tech sector so that they could invest in it.

She is also a great motivator and spoken person. Currently she is working on her new project called “It Can”.
