Introducing Web of Science Profiles
Web of Science Profiles: Objec3ves
• Facilitate repor9ng on the ins9tu9on’s complete set of research outputs on all internal organisa9onal levels and dimensions
• Enable feedback loops to facilitate sharing and reuse across the digital ecosystem of research informa9on
… by semi-‐automa9cally crea9ng and maintaining profiles on the researchers in a shared environment.
Na3onal mul3-‐tenant implementa3on
• Render the whole na9on’s researchers and their ac9vi9es and results publicly accessible (incl. feedback loops)
• Enable all researchers to get an ORCID ID, which can be used in a broader na9onal context
• Make repor9ng on all ins9tu9ons, the whole country or any other dimensions included (e.g. research fields)
• Reduce manual workload and administra9ve burdens as informa9on can be reused through integra9on with external and internal sources
• Get a Grants Management System (if there is for example one or several funders in Kenya that need a new system), which would enable everyone in the country to reuse their data in Converis directly for their grant applica9ons.
Discovery 55+ million records from the most high impact peer-reviewed journals for discovery.
Management of the full research lifecycle
Workflows, reports, integrations, fully configurable to meet individual needs.
International benchmarking – the outside view
Analytics and benchmarking of countries, institutions,
people and subject areas, incl. rankings and
collaborations.

Web of Science
What is ‘Web of Science Profiles’?
• Pre-Population: Thomson Reuters provides a set of articles from 2004- current to allow the customer to get started
• Continuous population: New records are added (semi-)automatically and related to the internal authors and org units.
• Feedback Loop: Amendments are sent back to enrich and correct the Web of Science
Integrated with Web of Science Data
• Connectivity: with external and internal sources, use of standards (Orcid, CERIF, Casrai, Vivo)
• Reporting: Exports, CVs, Standard Reports, Dynamic Reports • Workflow: Validations, Approvals, Communication between Users
Built on Converis technology
• Metrics: Article and Author level metrics • Tiles: Use of tiles for individual dashboards • Integration: Seamless navigation and data exchange
Analytics from InCites
Web of Science Profiles provides customers with the internal view of their institution’s publications and performance, including department and author metrics. It allows an organization to create, curate, and maintain a view of their organization’s comprehensive research output, with reporting tailored to the department and researcher level.
Web of Science Profiles in short
• Prepopulated with the WoS data matched with your internal HR data (org units, people, work affiliations)
• Bringing the InCites Analytics to the internal view of the organisation: – Connecting the WoS data to the individual authors and
departments (and a lot more, incl. groups, areas, …)
• As the records get enriched and corrected, this will feed back to the WoS
• Enabling reuse across institutions
