Follow the link for more information on registering

and use of devices (http://www.svsd.net/Page/8242).

Lions Team teachers will use BYOT during the year, and students are only to bring devices to class WHEN ASKED AHEAD OF TIME BY A TEACHER.

More detailed BYOT use rules and procedures will follow in the weeks to come and be posted on the Lions Team Website.

BYOT (Bring Your Own

Technology)

But why? …

Homework helps you practice what was taught, study for tests, prepare for upcoming lessons, develop self-discipline and organization, and provides additional ways to earn points.

How can I get it done? … Set aside a specific time and place (free from noise and distractions) to do homework every night. If you have no homework, us the time to read or review your notes.

I heard I can do all my homework in homeroom… #1 You heard wrong! Homeroom is only 20 minutes, and you will have Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursdays max free.#2 People who do homework in homeroom are not putting forth the effort required to get maximum points or learn from their homework, you need more time and a quite space at home.

Homework Philosophy“Do homework at home.”

1. All students will complete ALL assignments neatly

and legibly.

2. STUDENTS will be responsible for making up homework or other class work missed due to absence.

3. Homework must be turned in ON TIME for full credit.

The #1 reason students fail 7th grade is failure to complete homework. Our society is designed so that your JOB is to be a student until at least 18. Extra-curriculars are very important

and fun, but you have do make sure to do your JOB first. Make sure you make your education a priority every day.

Homework Guidelines

 1. Arrive to class on time. 2. Be seated QUIETLY before the late bell rings with all needed

materials. 3. RESPECT OTHERS!  4. To remember that BYOT is to be used during class time

for EDUCATIONAL use only and with TEACHER PERMISSION – there is no such thing as “free time” at SVMS. You should never bring technology to class or use it without teacher permission.

 5. Behave appropriately, listen attentively, and exercise self-

control.

Classroom ExpectationsThe Lions’ Team expects

appropriate classroom behavior and attitude at all times!

6. NO CHEATING in any form is permitted!  7. The bell at the end of the period DOES NOT dismiss you from classes; WE

DO!

8. BACKPACKS OR EXCESSIVELY LARGE PURSES/ BAGS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN TEAM CLASSES!

9. Lions Team policy mandates that every student keep a novel with him or her at all times.

10. WE ARE AN ALLERGY SAFE SCHOOL AND TEAM! Absolutely no food, drinks, or smellies of any kind are permitted!

*All school-wide rules and procedures found in the Student Handbook pages of your planner apply to the team and our classrooms though

they may not be listed here.

As soon as you are back in school, get all work from teachers. (You can also do this before.)

Cafeteria: What’s school without lunch, right?! Let’s look at this together and talk about lunch

today…

Page 7

Keep track of your lunch $ with

www.mySchoolBucks.com and make sure you ALWAYS have your ID!

Take care of your BOOKS, they don’t belong to you!

NEVER cut class!

Know you’re going on a trip this year? Please let us know ASAP so we can help you fill out the right forms.

point, please listen to them for instructions.

Student Rights and Responsibilities: You have the right

to feel safe, and others do too!

Riding the bus is a PRIVILEGE, not a right!

Don’t be TARDY (late)! School starts at exactly 7:30. Three tardies results in detention.

DISCIPLINE: Places: Mrs. Wildrick, the Office/principals, ALC or time-out,

homeroom restriction, detention, Saturday School, Supervised Study, in-school suspension (students in detention may not participate in after-school activities…)

Page 11 -13

DISCIPLINE cont.

NO FIGHTING! (this includes horseplay) Late to Class Leaving the Building Academic Dishonesty – PLAGIARISM Public Show of Affection

You don’t want to deal with any of this! By now, you know what behavior is acceptable in school. Please save us all the trouble and think before you act. All rules are here for your safety!

Page 13 - 14

STOP!

Bullying/Harassment: We are a bully free school.

We will talk a lot about respect this year. Know that bullying and harassment are crimes, and everyone has the right to be treated with kindness.

NEVER bring weapons or “look alikes” to school!

Page 14

Ahhh…. The two biggest problems every year…

Dress Code:First impressions are important. Inappropriate dress makes people think you are just another teenager. You can be super stylish without violating our dress code.

Cell Phones:Hey, I am attached to mine too, but I don’t use it during school and neither can you. Keep your cell turned off in your LOCKER. “My mom is texting me” is not an excuse and a little embarrassing…

There are NO EXCEPTIONS to either policy! You will change, your phone will be taken, and you will face consequences.

Page 14 - 15

Your locker does not belong to you! It can be searched

or taken at any time!

We are a DRUG FREE school!

Need to see the NURSE? Mrs. Williams is wonderful!

Screenings Not feeling well? Allergy Plan - No food or drinks! Medications – It is not safe to keep them with you, even

Tylenol. Just ask the nurse, and she can help you out!

Page 15 - 16

Extracurricular Activities:

Activity Fair – coming soon! Riding the Activity Bus – your parents don’t have to

pick you up! Drug Testing You must have a 2.0! No bullying! You must be in school to participate in after school

activities of any kind. (So don’t sleep in to miss the math test, or you can’t play in the game that night!)

The same rules that apply to school, apply to all after school activities!

Page 17

Student Council Dances – Awesome!

SV Portal: This should be your new best friend! We will go over this in detail in History class.

Computer Lab Rules

Still alive?! If you can make it through day one of 7th grade, the rest will be a piece of cake!
