Unionville Elementary Newsletter: February 2017 Edition
The Arrow
The Unionville Spring Carnival planning is underway, and we need
your help! The carnival is Unionville's biggest community event and
largest fundraiser of the year. The PTO committees have been busy,
organizing the games, collecting donations for the raffle, planning
silent auction baskets and finding fun prizes.
We are looking for someone to organize the popular Cupcake
Walk. This would involve collecting the cupcakes, asking for
cupcake donations and packaging them (along with others) the
day before or day of the carnival.
Also, if you own a business or know of a business that would like to
donate something to the raffle please let us know! Contact the PTO
at ptounionville@gmail.com
Our next meeting is on March 9th and we will continue to plan for
this event. Come share your ideas and hear what is new! Our April
13th meeting will be an active working meeting and we can always
use extra hands. At this meeting we will be repairing any games,
possibly making a new game and more. This meeting is always a fun
way for Unionville parents to spend time together while completing
the necessary jobs for this event.

Our Girl Scout and Brownie troops participated
and competed in the local Girl Scout Thinking
Day event. Both troops prepared great booths
about the Netherlands. Our Unionville Daisy
Troop won 2nd place. Nice!
Congrats, Girl Scouts!
G We had a fabulous bus driver appreciation
breakfast last month. We are so fortunate to
have such caring and conscious drivers. Please
take a moment to say “Thank you.”
Thank You Bus Drivers

Dine and Donate!
G Treat yourself to dinner out and raise money for
Unionville. The new Avers Pizza on the East side
(near Kroger) is hosting a dine and donate for
Unionville Elementary on Monday, March 6th.
Look for flyer a coming home for more
information.
We are so proud of our super speller Sonia
Butske! Sonia won our school spelling bee and
went on to compete in the county spelling
bee. It was a tough competition and Sonia
represented us well in both spelling skills, school
spirit (she wore her Unionville t-shirt), and
sportsmanship.
Our Super Speller: Sonia!
At Grandview, we follow the GRRRs. We are Respectful, Responsible, and Ready.
Blue is Coming!
The Indianapolis Colts’ mascot, Blue, is
coming to Unionville Elementary School.
Blue travels around to schools in Indiana
spreading his positive energy. It will be a
great “Welcome Back” treat after spring
break.
On Wednesday, March 8th Laser Lite is opening up their doors to Unionville Elementary.
Families can come anytime between 5:30-8:30pm.
Parents are welcome to play. Or, if laser lite is not for you, there is no cost to just watch.
Arcade games and pizza available for sale. Laser Lite will donate part of the proceeds
from this night back to our school. Look for flyer coming home soon about this night
