Biometric-Based Access Control Systems (ACS)

What is FACTS ???

Fast Access Control Technology Solutions.

Biometric-Based Access Control Systems(ACS).

Positive identification (ID) verification of a large number of people (possibly thousands) in a short time, such as when people enter the gates of a manufacturing plant in the morning, can be a critical task for the security guards.

Back End of FACTS

Developed and Demonstrated at Honeywell Labs.

FACTS solution combines radio frequency identification (RFID) tags with FRS (Family Radio Service).

The FACTS system is an access control system that integrates facial biometric and RF technology.

The system secures authorized access to enrolled drivers by matching stored facial signatures to a live video sequence of faces.

Current Methods

Fingerprinting is unreliable and requires too much cooperation.

Face recognition systems(FRS) are unacceptable in a one-to-many application.

Iris scan is slow .

Card can be stolen or a password forgotten, copied or given to an unauthorized person.

Main components for InterfaceA Tri-Band Imaging (TBI) camera system reliably detects and tracks human faces.

3 Activators,

3 Receivers,

3Road Loops.

The combination of a road loop and an activator read the personal tag.

Main componentsActivator:

The activator is a 132 kHz RF transmitter connecting directly to the transmit antenna.

It provides an activation signal that awakens tags as they pass through the antenna's field.

Main componentsReceiver:

The receiver receives the tag signals via its receiving antenna and sends the tag data to either a PC or control device, based on how it is programmed to respond to the Activator ID.

Main componentsRoad Loops:

The road loop is a rectangular loop of 14-gauge wire forming a transmit antenna operating at 132 kHz.

The road loop was laid out in a rectangle 14 feet by 4 feet.

Tri-Band Imaging (TBI) camera

TBI, operates on two near infrared (IR) bands: near IR is the reflective IR region of 0.8–2.2 microns.

(a1) is the upper reflective IR (UIR) band

(a2) is the lower reflective infrared (LIR) 0.8-1.4 micron band

Need For Security Protect Privacy of the Data and Information.

To reject un-authorized users to access the data.

To avoid data redundancy.

AdvantagesFACTS is dynamic, secure, positive, and hands-free for fast gate access control.

Provide quick and convenient positive (reliable) ID.

Positive identification (ID) verification of a large number of people can be done.

ConclusionPositive identification (ID) verification of a large number of people (possibly thousands) in a short time.

More Reliable and robust.
