DESIGN REVIEW
NFL Pneumos tat System (L. Oswalt/R . Milner)
Comments on a 20,000 psig pneumostat system for NFL
Equipment Lab. (Project 2075, 100%) were issued inFL 1 1--5-4098 .
Bowl Off-Site LOX Storage ( C . Beard )
Additional 100% comments on Project 2490 "Bowl Off--Site
LOX Storage and Transfer System " were issued in FL11-5-4081 .
ALTITUDE SIMULATION
J-2 Altitude System -- VTS-3A ( 0 . Haroidsen )
Tests on the VTS-3A facility definitely established thatdiffuser film cooling during ejector operation causes thecapsule pressure to degrade from about 1 .6 psi (51,000 ft .
altitude) to approximately 4 .0 psi (31,000 ft altitude) .Steam blow--back into the capsule, also caused by the film
cooling, is the cause of the high capsule temperaturesexperienced. Test Systems has strongly suggested that aJ-2 test be'forced to mainstage so the effect of film
cooling during J-2 operation can be evaluated . The
advisability of pursuing , film cooling would be known'imiieiiiately .
