3. Teacher’s capacity has been enhanced on promoting nutrition, health and hygiene as well as on farming and agriculture;

4. Schools generate more income from gardening, farming and raising animals;

IV. Project Outcomes (Cont’d)

5. School’s infrastructure improved (e.g. clean drinking water system, water supply and electricity);

6. Student’s health improved through nutritious school meals and clean water;

7. Students are healthy and able to participate in all school activities;

8. Strong, positive relationship between school and the community

V. Challenges

• Lack of Teachers’ Guides on farming and animal husbandry

• Some schools are unable to continue the implementation of the project regularly, due to local natural conditions (e.g. lack of water supply)

VI. Lessons Learned

To enhance teacher’s capacities and ensure the effective implementation of the project, regular training on project implementation should be provided.

VII. Recommendation

Given the positive outcomes, the project should expand to cover more lower and upper secondary schools, and more ethnic schools in other provinces in the Northern and Southern parts of Lao PDR.
