Components of behaviour change

• Attitude– I don’t believe change is worthwhile?

• Control– I don’t feel able to make the change?

• Norms– I waiting to see what is everyone else doing?

• Identity– Does the change fit with who I think I am?

Components of behaviour change

• Attitude– Provide information demonstrating change is

necessary

• Control– Make it easy to change

• Norms– Report on performance of others

• Identity– Embed sustainability in ethos of company

Does it matter if we don’t convince everyone to change?

• It only takes 30% of a population to adopt a new behaviour for it to become the norm

• It only takes 3 weeks for new behaviour to become habit
