Droplet measurement using imagej
Sir this is one of the photo taken with rathod sir’s canon 12MP camera. I have transferred this photo in image j software.
Atomizer tip width is 3mm. I set the scale using this length as known length.
• Distance in pixel means total my picture is 4000*3000 pixels. Atomizer tip is 153.64 pixel. I have calibrated this to 3mm. And given unit of length as mm.
• Here I have zoomed my image to where the droplets are clear and less number. There is one option to subtract the back ground to remove any unwanted things in the back.
• Here we can see the difference in back ground. now the droplets are very clear to measure.
• Make binary option will recognize the droplets as they have
• Here we can select a rectangular box where we are interested in measurement
• I have selected one rectangular box, analyzed the particles
• Show out lines will give the outer lines and number to the droplets.
• It counts the number of droplets in the rectangular box only and has given number to the each droplet. Calculated the area of each droplet.
• Here the total number of droplets are 21 and area of each droplet is in mm. in toolbar we can save this data into excel directly.
• Here I have measured each droplet size by considering droplets as round in shape. Area=πd2/4. evaluated value of d for each droplet. And average droplet size is 0.151mm and 151um. We can cross check the values by directly measuring the droplet.
• Here I have taken direct measurement of one droplet that is numbered as 11 showing with arrow. The length is shown above in the image j window as 0.20mm. We can compare this with previous result in the excel
• Accurate measurement is dependent on the image, if the photo is good means the droplets in round shape then measurement is easy with less error. Here I am showing one of the photo with very clear droplets. But here no scale (atomizer tip) to calibrate that’s why I have given other example.
• Sir this is my idea I don’t know whether it is fine or not. Please suggest me in this regard.
