Art – Mrs. Shadel

Students will build upon their knowledge of art and visual culture.

Students will sharpen their art-making, art analysis, creative thinking and problem solving skills as well as acquiring new skills and knowledge.

Students will use a variety of media and techniques, including drawing, painting and ceramics with major focus on drawing skills and storytelling through art.

Computer Essentials – Mrs. Szabo

This class will spend time working on keyboarding skills, striving for proper technique, accuracy, and speed.

Explore the Office 2013 Suite, practice safe use of the Internet, and create real world computer generated projects.

Projects will include the use of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, and use of the Internet.

Students will take the H.S. keyboarding proficiency test at the end of the quarter.

Digital Literacy – Mr. Bailye

Oral Communications – Mr. Zeigler

Students will be building on the skills that they learned in 7th grade through in depth speech and communication projects.

Students will give an informative multimedia-based presentation.

Analyze communication in advertising. Create their own advertisement using appeals that

we discuss in class. Perform dramatic readings of writing pieces, and

develop basic debate skills while they create arguments on current issues.  The projects in the class are presentation-based, while the rest of the grade is based on in class assignments and day-to-day checkups.
