Map ProductionThe present map shows basic topographic features such as Transport Network, Hydrology,Population, Land cover and Toponyms in Dadaab area. These basic topographic features are derived by means of visual thematic interpretation ofpan-sharpened Landsat imagery. All satellite images have been radiometrically enhanced and georeferenced using aerialorthophoto. The estimated geometric accuracy of this product is 65m CE 90 or better, from nativepositional accuracy of the terrain-corrected Landsat images. The estimated thematic accuracy of this product is 85% or better as it is based on visualinterpretation of recognizable items on very high resolution optical imagery.Map produced on 31.3.2014 by GISAT s.r.o. and Indra Sistemas S.A. under contract 257228with the European Commission. All products are © of the European Commission.E-mail: gio-ems-nonrush@jrc.ec.europa.euhttp://emergency.copernicus.eu/mapping

The products elaborated in the framework of current mapping in non-rush mode activationare realized to the best of our ability, within a very short time frame during a crisis, optimisingthe available data and information. All geographic information has limitations due to scale, resolution, date and interpretation of the original data sources. The products are compliantwith GIO-EMS NON-RUSH Product Portfolio specif ications.
The reference map shows topographic features as of 2014 and land use and land coverclassification as of February 2010.The purpose of the requested satellite-based mapping is to provide environmentaldegradation assessment, vegetation development and cultivation monitoring around theDadaab refugee camps in Kenya. The set of land cover maps shows land cover status in2000, 2005, 2010 and 2014 as extracted from high resolution satellite imagery (from Landsatmission). The core user of the map are the field offices of DG ECHO in Kenya.
No restrictions on the publication of the mapping applyDelivery formats are GeoTIFF, GeoPDF, GeoJPG for raster maps and ESRI GDB for vectors
