9/319
BI Apps 7.9.6.x / OBIEE 11g Upgrade Plans
Upcoming Fusion BI Apps 11g and BI Apps
11g PS1 will uptake OBIEE 11g features
BI Apps 7.9.6.x certification with OBIEE11.1.1.4.0 is under consideration
7/26/2019 Cross Functional BIDarrynHinett
10/3110
Option 1: Upgrade BI Apps With OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0
BI Apps 7.9.6.x is upgradeable to OBI EE 11g with the 11.1.1.3release, but a number of known issues have been identified
and are discussed in the product documentation
Understand the risk of being an early adopter
Consider and include all the risks in your project planning Require patience and risk tolerance
Consider environment requirements (Windows/Linux)
Recommended ONLY If there are critical OBIEE 11g features
that are needed, e.g. 64-bit operation, scorecarding, Answers+etc.

Option 2: Upgrade BI Apps With OBIEE 11.1.1.4.0
Better than Option 1
11.1.1.4.0 includes lot of bug fixes
Still Requires few manual changes to RPD/Webcat to
complete the successful upgrade
Consider additional efforts in your project planning
Please do Cost vs Benefits analysis before
considering the upgrade
Consider installing in development environment andstart exploring the new features, even if upgrade is
not required immediately

14/3114
Option 3: Upgrade Certified BI Apps Release (796x
with 11.1.1.4.0/11.1.1.5.0)
Best option as all the manual fixes will be done by
Oracle as part of certification
Still requires manual changes to customized objects
of RPD/Webcat, but changes should be minimal
It is highly recommended to wait for this release,
unless there is a compelling business need for the
immediate upgrade
